AMD FX 8370 Overclock Help

i need help overclocking FX 8370 Currently i am on 4.7Ghz with 990FXA-UD3 Mobo

This is my system
And my Friend With 8320 is rocking 5Ghz with this settings on ASUS ROG mobo
Is this possible? Can i Get the BUS SPEED higher to achieve 5ghz?

ever board cpu combo is diferent plus having a good psu is a good thing too. I only overclock in the bios. Why do you want to go to 5.0?

Your voltage is lower then your friends, which is why he can probably OC higher.
Are you even 100% stable at 4.7ghz with 1.344volts? Seems rather low unless you got insanely lucky in the silicon lottery.

Voltages go to 1.389 Under Heavy Load (Voltage loadline Calibration is to Extreme)

For that you will need a better motherboard and probably a custom waterloop. A UD3 Is hardly a CHVFZ.

Not to mention you'll need a good and reliable PSU.

Custom waterloop might not be necessary. I have heard people achieving near 5.0 with noctua nh-d15 air cooler.

However, there is also the silicon lottery to consider. Even of the same model chips, none are made identical. Some Fx 8xxx can get over 5.0 easily, while others max at 4.7.

You are Correct i got the h100i from my friend cranked the volts to 1.47 and hit 5Ghz no matter what its was helly unstable it maxxed out at 4.7

Hey, 4.7 is pretty sweet. You won't notice a difference between that and 5.0 😛
