I just bought the new(ish) amd fx-9370 processor. It was running really well for about 20 mins with the stock fan (bad choice i know. So when i upgraded to the corsair h55 water cooling kit, my cpu is at 60c idle. Ik that is bad for most processors... But what about mine, what are ideal temps and max temps for my cpu?

Here you just sound ignorant the 9590 was only 339.00 and when i bought the 8350 is was close to that.
Even now the 8350 is 199.99 so you save about 140.00 and you dont have to risk overclocking it.
+60.00 for the cooler

700.00 lol do some research

Have to consider the fact the 9 series are a much better bin. Most of the naysayers are intel fanboys. I'm one myself. However having just bought a 9590 on a budget, I did unhealthy amounts of research in an effort to save money. Fact of the matter is. On most 8350 chips your not going to get 9590 speeds. Most 8320s don't even oc as well as the 8350s.

Add in the fact the high end amd chips now come with asetek water coolers and I was completely and utterly sold. It boils down to like ~225 for a 8 core 5ghz from the factory chip when you factor in cooler cost. Absolute home run if you ask me. (Realize this applies to today's prices and not the prices at launch. However if we are going to argue launch prices, paying 1000 for an intel 6 core EE chip simply isn't worth it either. And this is coming from that guy with 4 titans)

I am running the FX 9370 with a frio dual 120 mm fan heatsink just fine temps with sencsor shows 47C with a game in the background and a active game running. been running with this cooler for more than a year about no issue just keep on top of dust and i notice replacing thermal paste is needed more often. Hope this helps. Also i think the max maybe alot higher than normal FX chips as it is a 220 watt chip i have seen it up to 72C with no proplems a side note i have seen that the ambient room temp also has a huge impact on cpu temps with this chip..

New: I will try getting my hands on a thermal gun and find the actual temp on the top of the chip where the heatsink pad sits before the heat pipes hit the fans. This will give a better and more accurate reading on the actual temp at what im running with a dual 120mm fan heatsink in push pull fan setup.

Used a thermal temp gun and the temps with my temp application is close to the actual temp 1c off at lower than 41c then is off by 5 below 30 C

You are right. A thermal take 3.0 pro could not keep mine cool. I even have 2 top exhaust fans and 1 front and 1 huge side fan. None of that could do it. But I bought a window unit ac a small one 5000 btu and put my pc right in front of it with the back of the pc facing the ac inverted the water cooler fan and what do you know a constant 24 degrees Celsius. So far so good. oh and a 19 degree Celsius mother board. Yes it does need extra ordinary cooling.
