Hi
I have just bought an Amd fx 9370, Gigabyte GA 990fx Gaming SLI, Saphire Nitro RG 390 TR1-X and Aero cool 700w power supply.

The mother board doesn't like the 9370 and Gigabyte don't have any bios up dates for the 9370.

Do I need to by a Asus Sabertooth 990fx or Asrock 990fx Extreme 9.

I've read that the Gigabyte boards should be ok.

Any ideas.

Stephen

That board is a newer release , so it supports the 9370 on the first BIOS , compatible right out of the box.

GA-990FX-Gaming
seeing the 220w chips are supported under its first release bios seems it should be good with that I would say the board was made with the 220w chips in mind ??

thing is you can look at this from toms threads them 220w chips are a pain to use and to me more a novelty then practical - quite a few posted here and issue like stability and heat and so on with them

My friend is doing the built so I'm not axactly sure but I think when he first fired it up there was a message saying that the cpu chip wasn't supported.

I would like to stick with the 9370 as I can send that back.

that's been pointed out. on the board

thing is you see this over and over with the 220w chips seems all ways something and luck of the draw comes more into play then ever with them ..

my buddies son got that chip on a exetreme9 and he says it tinker -tinker -tinker and now a massive V8 trying to keep the temps inline

I just feel for these guys I mean looks lie a fine board 200w support out of the box first release and still the issues thing is tis now a what, 6+ year old platform ? to me its hard to buy in to the past today with how more demanding todays stuff can be

and I still don't get AMD's thinking on that 220w deal take like intel trys to go lees power and mors processing power AMD went more power and not any improvement on processing poewer ?

just did not add up to me

that's another big issue with this 200w deal is no one looks at if there truly supported with there board , they think amd and am3+ and all is good when its not and why you got to check the facts out

like we said its hard enough to get them chips working nice on board built up for them and on top of that you don't even got any bios support for the chip at all ?? you got to check that supported cpu list first off to see whats supported and then be sure its a true 220w board and not just given a quickie bios update on a 125w board [like asus bull crap and does with there boards ]

if me I would rma and exchange the chip for a 125w or below if you can get them to do that on a cpu
