Hi, im doing a new build for the game Archeage. Is the Fx9590 a good choice? Does it support pcie 3.0? having a hard time putting the pieces together here, should i be looking at a different CPU?? Thanks for any input and for your interest.

The i7 4790K would be the best out of all those options. If you are just gaming, then the i5 4690K will fit right your needs. I'm not sure how the 9590 would be the best for any game as it's beaten in pretty much every game by the 4690K/4790K.
If your budget allows it and for future proofing, get a 4790K. Note the the K version are overclockable and if you aren't going to overclock, you could go with a non-K version.
For about the same price, you can get an i5 4690K or other variants which will perform better in games in general. You also don't need to deal with the 220W TDP that the 9590 has compared to the i5's 88w. For the PCIe 3.0, it's usually the motherboard that needs support for it and not the CPU. PCIe 3.0 cards are backwards compatible with 2.0 slots so you should be good.

The 9590 is a very, very bad choice. For basically any use. The only reason to buy a 9590 is if you want a very expensive room heater for this winter.

Now, talking seriously, the 9590 has nothing to offer. Is a very hot chip that would require watercooling. Actually, it's very close to an overclocked 8320, which you can get for a lot cheaper.
And I believe that no, AM3+ chips still have no PCIe 3 support.

And even so, nowadays intel chips are performing quite better for games. I would suggest an i5-4590k, that is the best current chip for gaming, taking price into consideration.

What about the i7-4790K. The build is specifically for archeage and i heard that the fx 9590 was best cpu for this game. Is the i5 better for gaming that the i7?

whats the best gaming Mboard with pcie 3.0 for the i7 4790k? Thinking xfire/sli with 2 x16 lanes would also be nice. Was hoping to keep mboard under $200.

Right, the i7 would be to have a bit of future proof for other games. Thanks for the help! Do you know if having dual x16 lanes for xfire or sli is that important? or is x8 fine for most games?

You will be running in x8/x8 if you SLI/Crossfire anyways. There isn't much of a drop off anyways :
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI-Express_Scaling/23.html

This was tested with Ivy Bridge so I'd imagine that It'd be better with Haswell.

Unless you move up to a X99 motherboard with a $500 processor all you can get is a single X16 or for SLI 2 X8 this is limited by the processor. This also is really not a issue @X8 the best cards are just now starting to be able to saturate that.

I'm not aware of any DDR3 RAM modules running at 3000Mhz. In Gaming, there is a very negligible difference in frame rates and nowdays, 1600Mhz is pretty much standard and you'll be fine with it though. Higher memory frequency will only help in RAM intensive apps.

Hence the "usually"!
I think there are some motherboards that allow PCIe 3.0 support for the AMD FX series (I believe it has to do with the mobo chipset as FX doesn't natively support it) :

I believe there are some Trident modules that run at 3000, but not sure...
Still, 1600 or 1866 would be enough. 2133 and above makes virtually no difference.
SLI 8x/8x runs exactly as well as 16x/16x, even when talking about GTX 980.
I insist that the i5 would be as good as the i7. No practical difference, and a lot cheaper.

The gpu would be far more important.
970 sli or 980 sli is top of the line nowadays. What resolution will you be playing at?

They must of added something to the board for the 3.0 I also see it will SLI 16X16 to bad it's Asus.

Tried to research this Gen 3 sabertooth and seems to be discontinued.

You won't be needing an AMD motherboard anyways since the better path is Intel. As others have stated, PCIe 2.0 x8 can still run cards at max speed(if not very near) and x16 provides twice the amount so it's not really an issue.

ok thank you everyone that helped today. I really appreciate your time and opinions on this. Will compile what i learned here today and use it towards my build. Btw if you havent yet checked out archeage its a really great game and id highly recommend it.

I still play ultima online sometimes you can run it on a toaster that's not even plugged in. Came out in like 1998.

Commenters are not very literate. if we wanted an Intel CPU we ask for that opinion. The question has nothing to do with brand name. It was a simple question related the AMD CPU. Please do not waste my time giving your opinion when it is NOT related to the question posed. Does the AMD fx-9590 support PCIe3 or not?

We do not need Intel groupies responding to AMD. By the way, I use Intel 5th gen chips.
