Hi all,
I'm looking to build a pc using the amd fx9590 processor but I'm using an existing case which is built for micro atx motherboards. Does anyone know if there are any micro atx boards that are capable of handling the power draw from the processor?

If there aren't any then could someone suggest a good amd processor and motherboard for a micro atx system, the system would be for gaming.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Do you need a DVD drive? Wait for the GTX 1080/1070.

The Asus Sabertooth 990FX board (regular ATX) is great with the 9590. But if you haven't already bought the 9590...the new Amd Zen processors should be very good chips available in about October. Since they are much lower power, expect to see micro-atx boards support Zen.

I know that AMD fans will never agree but FX9590 is one big joke from AMD.
It is basically only a massive factory OCed FX83xx, which is very hot and consumes a lot of power.
FX9590 performance is also below Intel's i5 for gaming and i5s are all a lot cooler and consumes a lot less power.
If you do not have that FX9590 yet, do not buy it.

If you need a new rig right now, go for Intel Hasswell or Skylake platform. If you can wait, wait until the new AMD Zen series are already in the market.

As the proud (ahem) owner of an FX-9590, I have one question: Why?

It's a hot, power-hungry beast that is a pig to get stable, even on a good board like the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX. More gallingly, it's still outperformed in most tasks (even some heavily-multithreaded ones) by the i7-2600k in my work PC, especially if I overclock the i7 to 4.5GHz.

Get a nice cool-running i5-6600k or something that you can use on a micro-ATX board - you'll have a quiet, compact PC that doesn't require industrial cooling plant to keep it running. (You won't find any micro-ATX boards that can take the 9590 - they're simply not built to provide the obscene amounts of power that it needs.)

You can wait for Zen but there are no guarantees to how good it will be. The FM3+ socket is end of life and I see no good reason to invest in it. I hope Zen is good as Intel need some competition but I have my own doubts, why would AMD let themselves get so far behind if they had anything in the pipeline that could compete. There financial position in recent years doesn't fill me with confidence as R&D is expensive.

There are only 10 mobos that support the 9590 due to the extreme TDP of 219 watts.
All supporting mobos are Atx form factor.
