Wait a minute... this article talks about 4-8 cores and not 4-8 modules which is a more suitable term for the Bulldozer architecture...
So my question is: since each module has two cores (2xcores) does that means the FX-8150 has 4 modules? I heard that each module is almost as faster as a normal dual-core because of the 2x int schedulers, if so this means that only something like a 6-core i7 processor can be on pair with this or close to this. Since the rumors says the FX-8150 is 50% faster than the Core i7 950 I wouldn't doubt it looking at this architecture. But like everyone has said, we need benchmarks to be completely sure.

I wanted to wait for the Bulldozer, but they have cut down my willing. I bought d i5 2500K, I cant wait forever when there's something that has proved 2 be more than goof for its time.

[citation][nom]shreeharsha[/nom]What's the difference between Zambezi & Bulldozer ?[/citation]
Bulldozer is the codename for the underlying architecture, Zambezi is the codename for the FX series processors.

[citation][nom]alyon[/nom]Besides, if you get a 1155 board don't the new Sandy bridge E chips drop in ?[/citation]

Don't think so. I believe Sandy Bridge E uses Socket 2011.
That's Ivy Bridge you are thinking of.

[citation][nom]generalformat[/nom]I liked the name better before your homophobic, irrational, and violent religion stole it from the pagans.[/citation]
The origin is very accurate. Which "religion"? The catholic church? Yes, your description of them (at least some, and at some times) is accurate. But if you mean (real) Christians, then you can discard the "irrational" and "violent" – "violent" is exactly opposed to what the Bible teaches; as for "irrational", it is far more rational than many, especially more than evolution and atheism (yes, they are religions – just different than most). As for the rest, so what?

Yes, I'm a real Christian. If you want to know my definition of real, check out the references in my signature.

I believe you're correct. FX8150= 4 modules, 8 'cores'. IMHO once Bulldozer is out the discussion should shift away from number of cores and strictly be price/performance. Bulldozer core ≠ Sandy/Ivy bridge core. Its like arguing cylinder count between a z06 and GTR, doesn't matter in the end what matters is who wins.

Either way Bulldozer needs out, now. I have a c2d that I'm itching to finally replace.

A 12 core is beating a 6 core by 5%...

I've been on this Q6600 far too long...the temptation to skip waiting BD and its reviews and go buy a 2500k is mounting.

A 24 thread setup beating an overclocked 24 thread setup isn't too bad. Sure, two Magny Cours CPUs will have 24 real cores and no logical threads, however we're talking an Intel setup clocked to 79% higher speed than an AMD setup which sports half the L3 cache and is likely a whole lot cheaper to boot. Add in the fact that Magny Cours doesn't drink a whole lot of power (not bad for a 45nm design) and this is a rather compelling reason as to why these venerable Opterons are still a good choice in some circumstances. If Interlagos is really 50% faster than Magny Cours (8M/16C/16T vs. 12C/12T) then this score isn't going to stand for long, at least in an AMD-vs-AMD comparison.

I wonder what SP1 would do to the scores for the AMD setup?

Evolution huh? It's not like we haven't had organisms stuck in various layers of sediment as time went on to verify evolution. Please pick up a layman scientific book on some topic you are interested in and read.

im interested in seeing how these modules handle workloads. The wattage is held alot lower than i expected, considering its a 6 core(possibly 8 core abilities) running a 3.3ghz, with the good integrated gpu and all with just 95W. the 3.6ghz 8 core looks interesting too. I really want to see benchmarks before the release, since this is something new, and people are still speculating whether this will be good or not. Anyway, possibly 15 days left. these are going tobe very long 2 weeks:l

Hope it will put intel's i7 to the ground. If not, well I've been with AMD since 486 era.So, go figure. Just release it already. I'll go with FX4100 with hopes to unlock the rest of the cores just like I did with my
555.

exactly....

that would be nice...

I am quite content with my Q6600... Just got a 4870x2, on the cheap, for it Monday. Should breath some new life into it. While the 2500K is a compelling upgrade, I just can not justify it for my needs... Bulldozer doesn't look like it will change this much, unless they are able to force Intel to drop prices for the 2500K down to the 100 dollar area...

I know what Ivy bridge is. I was saying that the E class chips can be used in socket 2011 and 1155 I believe. Just like the older i7s could be placed in 1156 or 1366.

AMD has played it's cards right by not trying to compete with Intel in the desktop cpu market. They have moved onto other markets and that was a smart move.
They shipped 12million APU's in the 2nd quarter alone.
