AMD FX6300 for ASRock 960GC-GSFX

Hey I just bought the ASRock 960GC-GSFX cause it was cheap and Im not really particular about mobos anyway...

But then I started seeing posts that FX6300 isnt compatible or wont work.. is this true?

if not, can you give any good alternatives at that price point? I Havent bought a processor yet sooo yeah 😀 Thank you!

you'll need to update the bios... but yes it's compatable.

The 6300 is compatible. It does require a BIOS update if you don't have the version that supports the 6300FX.

As long as you bought the motherboard from newegg or amazon according to newegg the have been shipping out that board with the required update already installed

Havent bought it but I have talked to other people that did... It works but you'd have to upgrade the BIOS

Also, after tons of research, since it only has the 760G Chipset plus among other things like no USB 3.0 and just one PCIe 2.0 port... its an okay board thats cheap if you want one thats working right now.. if you're planning to OC or upgrade in the future then I'd recommend finding a better board :3
