Will this play games like GTA IV, Just Cause 2, and Battlefield 3 on high?
I am mainly upgrading since my laptop cannot handle games like above.

if you can spare the $ I would trade the 6870 for a GTX 560. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont think you need a 600 watt psu so if you can find a 500 watt for cheaper than go for it.(I think )

AT your price range that will work fine. I can play pretty much any game fully maxed at 1280x1024 with my rig, and my 550 TI is not as good as a 6870. This is the resolution I currently play at as well. I've played all of the COD games, BF3 single player (never multi), Medal of Honor (2010)- uses same game engine as BF3, Crysis 2 and Skyrim. Among others.

I would suggest going with a more modern chipset than a 760G on the mobo though. I'd try to squeeze in a 970 chipset board. I would suggest an Asus M5A97 or Asrock 970 Extreme 3 or 4.

Also, you can save some money on the PSU, a CX500v2 (likewise Corsair) is more than sufficient for that setup.

A note about that, BF3 is indeed optimized for Nvidia graphics cards, so you might want to take that into consideration if you have aspirations of playing BF3 at high settings, but the 6870 should still take care of it @ that resolution.

I decided to get the Extreme 3 mobo. But to that I had to downgrade to a 500gb and a 500watts Corsair. But it can manage! Thank you! Oh and it's fine if I can't play on super derpie high. As long as I can play it.

Really? The 560 kinda suck compared to a 6870. But to a 560 ti, I would defintely buy that over the 6870! But I don't have the money

You'll be fine at that resolution. Like I said, I play on that resolution currently with my 550 TI AMP edition, and I have no gripes except with Skyrim. The 550 TI gets throttled occasionally and the FPS do drop. Although I did say that BF3 likes Nvidia cards more than AMD, the reverse seems to be true for Skyrim.

As far as a 500GB hard drive, meh, its not a big deal. My main drive is a 500GB too, I added a slow 5900RPM 2TB second drive later on.
