oh god, don't even bring retarded consoles into this. CONSOLES ARE NOTHING BUT MARKETING
and since you can't compare them to real systems at all, they can beef up the scores/power that is claimed just for good PR.

The only decent thing about PS3 is the fact that it should come with Linux preinstalled and hopefully optimized for the 8 cores. By the way, when you get your shiny PS3, let's do some Linux benchmarking, my opteron 165 versus your...cell. Or, my 6800gt versus whatever the hell the PS3 has. That is, of course, provided you don't have a disc read error. However, props to Nvidia for supporting 1080i/1080p, hopefully they will do this for their graphics cards as I would love to move my box upstairs to my bigscreen.

lol
funny  Ill wait till pc catches up thanks, ummm you may want to check yourself on that statement....are you aware of the transistor count in each cell?just in terms of capability its almost a pc,and in graphics a pc cant touch it.Nvidia came up with the most advanced gpu in thir history for this;thats from the co-founder of Nvidia himself .
do you even know what your talking about dude console procs have only 1 instruction set and thats just for playing games ok look consoles are beter for games pc's are better for everything else just look at the xbox 360 goergues graphics right but can it run 3dmark no can it do cad well no do you know why cause consoles have 1 instruction set and its just for games pcs have multiple instructin sets and they can do alot more look at the ps3 looks great right right but how about a pc with 4x 865 opty it would pwn the ps3 in alot of bencheis!

I agree that AMD presently holds the lead in terms of performance / $, but you're crazy if you don't think Intel is working on reversing this.

My first impression of an Athlon goes way back to the very first ones... a display computer in a BestBuy that blue-screened the second I touched it. Took me many years to actually buy an Athlon (X2-4400) largely due to that one BSOD.

wow some of you amd fan boys are really bitter.
Anyway, with the pentium M platform being adapted to the desktop i only see intel kicking AMDs butt.
That is, if they deliver what they promised.

The potential for the PS3 is limited PC are not. In 2009 we'll have GeForce 11800GTX 2GB vid RAM or whatever. AMD will have socket AM3 and we'll be able to see the future when we stare at our Laser LCDs.

PS3 will give us Metal Gear Solid 5: So Very Tired.
