[SOLVED] AMD issues or something else? (RX 5700 XT)

So i have had this GPU for about two weeks now and its alright... when it works.
Three games ill mention straight off the bat, Rage 2, Metro Exodus and Metro 2033 Redux.
These games just dont seem to work. What happens is after a little while the whole screen just gets blasted with every type of color there is before the game crashes. Im not sure if its the game or the GPU because what happens is AMD Radeon Software actually resets my settings to default. Fan curve, frequency etc everything resets. And yes i have tried not changing anything and it still happens.
I have monitored my temps and numbers and everything seems to be in order.
Some games run without issues. A Plague Tale, Kingdom Come, We Happy Few, Hellblade, theHunter Call of the Wild just to name a few.

I know that there are driver issues with these cards currently (that AMD seems to be having a hard time fixing) but could it be something else? I really dont know much about PCs but im 99% certain that everything is working as it should be. Really im 100% certain but there is always that doubt with me being a newbie at building PCs.

Right so i did the DDU thing and while its too early to say anything i was able to play Rage 2 for about an hour without it messing up. Im not sure but it may have even improved the performance.
However, i booted up Hellblade just to see if it changed in other games and i experienced some stutter where i didnt before so... i dont know what thats about...

It also seems to have made the GPU cooler. I was at 68-70c before and now im at 63-64c on the same fan curve.

Another thing, VRAM clock speed was at 1800MHz default before and now its 1750MHz. Not sure what that means in terms of performance but it is a fact.

It's is known that these cards had drivers issues. If you now see 1750 mhz it's probably because they underclock...

Share the rest of your specs please. While, it could be indeed a gpu driver issue, i would suggest making sure your psu is not giving up and is up to the task. I usually run cpu and gpu benchmarks simultaneously to simulate real high load environment.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB Nitro+ OC Special Edition
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus x570 Master
RAM: Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3600MHz
Cooling: Corsair H150i PRO
PSU: Corsair RM750x
Monitor: LG 27GL850

With 750w there is plenty of power. I guess i will check the cables when i get home but very unlikely that thats the problem because i made a thing about making sure everything was plugged in all the way when i was building the pc.

Just make sure you're running the new AMD driver, V 20.2.2, and you're out of the 'bad driver' era. You can get the update from here.

The problems you reported aren't exactly typical of the problems people were having though. But then it also sounds like you recently got the card so be sure to run DDU to completely remove all traces of old drivers before installing the new driver. Ultimately, it could be you just got a bad card.

I will try the DDU thing when i get home, im pretty sure im running the latest driver that came out just a couple days ago. However i did just install it on top of the old one if thats how it works.

Ugh please dont be a faulty card... I hate having to send things back its such a nuisance. And what are the odds, before i ordered it i said i can deal with the driver issues until its fixed just please dont send me a faulty card. Ugh...

It's is known that these cards had drivers issues. If you now see 1750 mhz it's probably because they underclock memory within the driver to make it stable. Initially black and colored crash screens are usually caused by unstable vram. I'd say to use the card at stock for a while to make sure it's not hardware defect.

The issues seem to have diminished. I have only gotten one black screen crash playing Forza Horizon 4 but that was likely due to me overclocking wattman a tad bit too much. Lowered the overclock and now it seems to be stable. The colored screen crash hasnt been seen since i used DDU and reinstalled driver.
Thank god its not a faulty card.
