News AMD Launches ‘Fire Range’ HX3D mobile processor with game-boosting 3D V-Cache, other HX Series SKUs built on Zen 5 desktop CPU silicon

I wonder if having these low powered chips will cause there to be few ultra high performance standard versions with the idea that they would have to bin out the best of the 9950X3D to use as 9950HX3Ds lowering the odds of winning the silicone lottery on desktops.

From the article:

The 9955HX3D’s CPU cores can boost up to 5.4 GHz, the same as the prior gen Ryzen 9 7945HX3D model.

The prior-gen model was limited to one series of expensive laptops from Asus, the ROG Strix Scar lineup, and they suffered from poor availability.

This was only true at launch. Poor availability continued but MSI released their own 7945hx3d laptop, and I think there are a couple non-USA skus as well.
