I feel slightly vindicated that I posted that last Friday before this news broke lolGiven the speed of the re-validation they are doing... I almost suspect it is something cosmetic like a misprint of the SN on the IHS..
According to a buddy who works at Microcenter, they have already gotten the first shipment of "re-validated" chips in and the only reason for the delay is that they would not have had the full stock by the 31st. .
Ho ho ho, how we laughed……Well, in order to avoid being MISLEADING, they should name them as follows:
9600X => Ryzen 3 9300X (competes with entry-level Intel offerings)
9700X => Ryzen 5 9550X (loses to Intel's x600K SKUs)
9900X => Ryzen 7 9650X (loses to Intel's x700K SKUs)
9950X => Ryzen 9 9880X (competes with Intel's x900K SKUs)
9800X3D => Ryzen 5 9500X3D (multi-core performance on par with Intel's previous-gen x600K SKU)

Sex sells, or in this case clickbait gets views, ads get impressions.. Future Publishing gets paid.Toms Hardware - in which world apart from where sensationalism rules is this
"AMD originally scheduled its launch date for July 31 but will now launch the Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X processors on August 8. The higher-end Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X will be delayed until August 15. " the same as "several weeks"?
This is just a small example, but the tendency seems to creep in most places in the articles on TH. I really wish TH would stick to just reporting facts and analysis. Leave the attempts to make mountains out of molehills to the tabloids
