Im in the process of upgrading from my old pc. I am currently looking at a Athlon XP 2600+ processor with a FSB of 266mhz. The reason for me not using one with the 333 FSB is because i need a motherboard capable of supporting both pc100 SDRAM and DDR. It would suck being stuck with the lower FSB speed. I am building it piece by piece, and wont be able to get DDR till next spring, so i'm stuck with using my sdram lying around my house.

I was wondering if anyone knows where i can obtain a mobo capable of handling a 2600+ with 333 FSB , sdram, and ddr.
8x AGP would be nice, but im content with a 4x slot.

there is no motherboard capable of handling a 2600+ with 333FSB and SDRAM at same time, as far as i know

there is only one motherboard that is capable of taking Athlon XP with SDRAM, but only a 266FSB, again, as far as I know.. which is the ECS K7S5A

BUT, it's NOT worth money at this time to put an Athlon XP with ECS K7S5A with SDRAM, that would totally be a waste

Don't get me wrong, K7S5A is a solid board, but I would spend a few more bucks to get a full speed and fully featured motherboard based on nForce2. Just go out and look for it, there is plenty of good boards outthere.

And if you'll be looking for a nForce2 mobo, the most recommended board here is the Abit NF7-S v2.0 or just a plain NF7 v2.0, which costs less, but still a rock solid board!

I found a MSI KM2M Combo-L SktA motherboard with the VIA KM266 chipset. The mobo handles both SDRAM and DDR, but only allows a 266mhz FSB speed. I probably will wait and buy a mobo with the nforce2 chipset. Im not too familiar with amd chipsets and mobos because Im more of an Intel fan, but I'd rather not spend the amount of money needed for an equivalent Intel mobo and cpu

because Socket A boards are fully developped..basically you shouldn't have any problems with any decents chipset such as VIA KT400, KT600, KT880, nForce2..
it's just nForce2 is the best among of them

I would not suggest you to get a KM266, I can't say it's bad, but it's old KT266A chipset with onboard graphic.
