Hey

I'll be using my pc for video editing and games!

As for editing, will render a lot of stuff and will work a lot with After Effects , Cinema 4D, Sony Vegas.

Gaming some BF4, Crysis 3 and so :)

What CPU could provide me the best performance?

I saw AMD's are a lot cheaper and I can get a 8 core for 300$ instead of i7 4770's 4 cores.

Thank you :)

Gosh, my head is going to explode soon from all the questions comparing the number of cores. Yes, AMD gives you more cores for less money, but each core accomplishes less work than an Intel core. That's why Amd's six-core FX is priced below Haswell Core i3 and eight core FX is priced about the same as Core i5. There is no free lunch. It's like comparing the utility of buying two trucks vs one that's twice as big. If your cargo can be split, then you can transport it equally well in two trucks or one big truck. However, if your cargo can't be split (single-treaded apps or multi-threaded where one thread bottlenecks all other threads) then one big truck is better. There is no free lunch. If you can afford it just get the Core i7.

hey, i work with 3d, composition and also make a lot of renders and video editing. I have a 4770k and it was one of the best purchases. its better than the amd, so if you work with that i think that may be your best option.
it is not the cheapest but it is faster for sure.

edit:
like jacobian said, the number of cores doesnt say anything at all, there ara thousands of factors.

Yeah, thanks.

Would get the i7 then :)
220 W hungry 8 core amd cpu kills me.
