Above this frequency I crash (No blue screen) as I said anywhere from 15-30 minutes under stress. I'm still inexperienced at this, so I'll take any pointers anyone has.

Nice OC lowjack989 on the 965BE
my best stable was at 4ghz at 1.53v at 56c at 75F
problem was that I had the 965BE during warm weather with a low powered window AC cooling the room so temps were always my limiting factor
even now it is still warm in here
doesnt help that I have a Sandybridge xeon rig folding 24/7 plus my 1100T folds most of the day normally
freaking space heaters LOL

I will have to look that up schmuckly
and 4.4 on a 960T on six cores is an awesome OC on water
of course if it was proven stable that would be more impressive :)

King you're gonna lose! You better come up with something fast!

actually going to wait until I get my 8+2 990 board
that will be a week or two
I had it at 4.4 booting into desktop and started to run CB 11.5 and crashed
ran into thermal wall I think
with the 8+2 board and hopefully some cooler room temps I think I have a chance
also doing a new case with better cooling capablities at same time as mobo upgrade
so hopefully the combo of new case, new mobo and cooler room temps will help me out

As a quad, 4.2ghz/ 1.4v. seems stable, but I'll need to do more testing to be certain.

Ty Schmuckley.

My Gigabyte mobo deserves much of the credit because my previous Asus 790gx wouldn't run anything past 4032mhz. lol

ANY successful Cinebench run is good in my view because I've seen it BSOD on what appeared to be stable overclocks. eg. 4ghz x6 on 1.375v. repeatedly ran everything I tried. Then I realized, 'I forgot to try Cinebench'. It crashed to the desktop, then BSOD after the reboot. lmao

man that Zosma is a nice CPU
but my 1100T will be a beast once my room temp drops below 75F and I have the 8+2 board
My best stable OC was 4.1 and it would boot into windows and run CB 11.5 halfway then crash
but that is with a 60-62c max load and a 4+1 770 chipset board
with a 990 8+2 and winter time temps I know I can get 4..2-4.3 stable
but price vs performance the 960T that unlocks to 6 cores is the best deal AMD has

After seeing 6's and 7's ...I thought it was being a little slow...It loses complete stability at 4.5 GHz....On a side note I am able to game at 4.42 GHz for hours no stutter...I am getting 86 fps playing Fallout: NV on ultra settings with 8xAA....The temps at 4.42 GHz under 100% load never get past 46c...The older my chip gets the faster it seems it goes...I used to not be able to surpass 4.31 GHz just 4 Months ago...This chip has been running for 30 months now without a hiccup...except when I took her up to 4.7 GHz on the boot up last night...I was sweating a bit on that one lol

Those 6 and 7's you see are all 6 core CPUs though. Whats sad is my 4.5GHz FX-8150 losing to their 6 core Phenom IIs!!

Although as far as single core performance goes atleast I can still boast my i5-2500K that gets 1.70 on a single core! 6.81 all 4 cores!

My old 790 had an 8+2 phase and it didn't do much better than your 770. heh.. The power management on those chipsets were built with Deneb cpus in mind and were not meant to handle an OC'd Thuban.

And yes, the price : performance ratio is HUGE. :D

I am either getting a Gigabyte 8+2 or a Asus 6+2 board with a 990 chipset
hopefully let me lower my voltages a little and squeeze an extra 200mhz stable
currently it will boot just fine into 4.4ghz but crash on CB 11.5 run
it will boot into desktop at 4.2 and almost be stable
just hit a thermal wall actually
runs fine under 55c but once it goes over 55c then it will throttle down to 1700mhz during load
I am just going to run a freaking duct from my window AC onto my radiator LOL

Its a tough choice as both companies are good. The Gigiabyte boards are known for running hot, btw.

The VRMs must be roasting with that cpu at 4ghz +. I'm surprised it even posts.

The Asus M4A77TD has a decent heatsink on the VRM and I added a 40mm fan ziptied to the heatsink for extra cooling
usually a air cooler will help cool the VRM but I have a CPU liquid cooling system so I added the fan
the Asus M4A series are nice little motherboards though
I am sort of a Asus fanboy LOL
I like my Asus and Antec parts

mine is stable at 80+'C and 4.2+ghz on all cores @1.525v on a cheap gigabyte board with 4 phase without heat sink on vrm

are you getting jealous ;)

No complaints about those guys. Toss in Zalman and XFX, if you want.

I'm a pc parts activist. :hello: Do you realize how much pain and suffering your mobo must be going through ?

To my surprise, 1.475v was all that was necc to run WPrime and Cine (twice !) at 4.3ghz. WOOT pb !

dude mine is a cheap board with only 4 phase for cpu thus to make it stable at 4.2+ i need to jump in 1.5+v range
it is stable @4ghz@1.456v

i know about that
i used to touch them during runtime (when stress testing) my style ;)

but since i don't need this much cpu power for now thus i run it at 3.2ghz@1.15v to keep it cool ;)

I have OCd a PHII X 4 925 stoick 2.8 > 3.5ghz @ 1.53v then a 965BE @ 4ghz 1.53v then now the 1100T 4ghz @ 1.54v
all thoroughly tested for stabilty with two hour P95 tests,Intel Burn Tests, benchmarks and folding at home which besides running all cores at 100 percent also runs the GPU at 100 percent
had this board since December
a refurbished board from Geeks.com
I will kind of miss her when I do my mobo upgrade soon
Kind of like a girlfriend you treat like crap who keeps coming back LOL

you do know it really shouldn't go much higher than 61C right?

what program do you use to monitor temps?
