Help!! I installed AMD Overdrive because I thought it was a way of controlling GPU fan speeds but after doing so I am experiencing the blue screen of death with the system thread exception cannot be handled error. I built this pc just some weeks ago and I am only 14 so I am scared I did something that broke my pc. I will attach a photo but right now I am just troubleshooting from the CMD in the advanced boot options as I cannot start up my pc without instantly seeing the BSOD. I already uninstalled my graphics driver from safe mode but I was still unable to get into my pc let alone logging in fast enough before seeing the BSOD.

It's fairly rare to kill the PC by overclocking today.

I suggest you boot back into the motherboard BIOS and set everything back to DEFAULT. Then test for a while to ensure stability.

So..
1) boot
2) hit "DEL" key when prompted
3) set "factory defaults" or similar

(The AMD Overdrive software should be changing the BIOS settings from within Windows. So this SHOULD change everything back. I've never used it, but I would imagine that is the case. For now, perhaps just avoid this software)

Other:
For FAN SPEEDS you should download the software for the MOTHERBOARD itself from the support site for that board. Most boards have it. The BIOS does have some capability as well usually, then when you boot into Windows the software settings you set take over.

*I can't comment further, but again get the system stable and ask for help after that.

Okay haven't heard this one so i'll give it a try. Will setting factory defaults for the bios reset my entire pc just like if you were to restore it? As of right now, my computer is doing a lengthy scan for any corrupt files and I have to wait for that to finish. Thank you so much for the quick answer, was worried I might've damaged something.

This didn't work and I am still having the problems.

If the previous didn't work, try this (it worked for me).

1. Start in Windows safe-mode
2. Browse the folder in which AMD Overdrive is installed (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Overdrive)
3. Move the "Overdrive" folder somewhere else. Cut it! don't just copy. After this step, there should be no C:\Program Files (x86)\AMD\Overdrive
4. Restart PC
5. Now, you should not get the blue screen anymore
6. Copy back the moved folder to the original location
7. Uninstall AMD Overdrive from Control Panel

It worked! Thank you! (I'm on windows 10) 30.6.2017

Hey - I'm having the same issue. I even reinstalled windows and reinstalled AMD overdrive and I get the same aoddriver2.sys issue. Obviously I can just uninstall the program (and I have) but I still want to overclock my GPU. Any ideas? I read in another thread here it might be due to having custom bios settings (I do) to overclock my CPU and ram. I'll try to make a system recovery point then try that I suppose.

For the ones who want to fix the aod....sys bsod after installing amd overdrive.
follow the steps....

.1 Boot in safemode
.2 Type Win-key + R to open run
.3 Go to services and open them.
.4 Hide all microsoft services (much easier to find)
.5 There must be a service that is called AODService (AOD assistant service) --> disable it.
.6 Reboot and you must be able to boot in normal boot state
* Not working ? ---> reset bios into default settings and try again
