Hi there...I have an AMD Phenom II X6 2.8GHZ 1055T processor. I used to get 200 FPS constantly in a cpu demanding game. Now I get only 20. I have had the processor for 3 years but I've never touched it, I've never replaced / added more thermal compound/paste.

-Could this be the problem that's making FPS drops? Should I add more thermal compound/paste?

Note: After a month or so of using this computer from new, fps drops began and I went to around 180, then 150, then 120, then 90, then 80...

Anything I can do or is it just fucked?

If I need to buy another, any recommendations?

.................

played on SWTOR as well, and it lags on that. I'm pretty sure it's the processor and not the graphics card as I've changed that a few times and it's not solved a thing.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

....I have 4GB Ram which should be enough for what I am using it for.

Crack open your case and give it a good cleaning, perhaps its throttling back due to heat.(a can of compressed air is your ally)
Viruses, malware, software conflicts, driver issues: could also be any one of these issues as well.

I guess you dont have it overclocked? I had a similar problem with my 1055t but i reset the bios to default and redid my overclock and it fixed it.

If you have gone that long without replacing your thermal compound it is probably about due to be redone, and maybe clean out the CPU cooler. You can download a CPU temp monitoring program such as hwmonitor or coretemp to tell you if you are having thermal problems.

Done :) ...I think I'll factory reset / reformat the hard drive as well, as I've had it for 3 years and there must be a lot of shit on here that's probably the main reason for it's slowness I guess. Thanks guys
