I recently bought this new CPU making sure that it is compatible with my motherboard, when I installed it and turned on the computer I received a message that said something similar to CPU is unsupported. This sort of dumbfounded me and I have done some research, which has lead to me finding a bios version on the FOXCONN website that I thought was compatible. (I for some reason cannot access the website anymore but here is the name of the file that I downloaded) 941F1P07.zip After reading the text document that came along with the file I downloaded, I stumbled upon Model name RS880M02 which leads me to believe that this bios update is for a different computer. I don't know what to look for anymore and have ran into a brick wall with my understanding on computers.
Here are the specs of my computer;

OS Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: p7-1003w
System Type: x64-based PC
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 650 Processor, 3200 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. 6.06, 3/22/2011
SMBIOS Version: 2.6
Embedded Controller Version: 255.255
BIOS Mode: Legacy
BaseBoard Manufacturer: FOXCONN
BaseBoard Model: Not Available
BaseBoard Name: Base Board
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 TI
Memory Slot(s): DDR3 Size 2048 MBytes. Manufacturer Hyundai Electronics Max Bandwidth PC3-10700 (667 MHz) Part Number HMT325U6CFR8C-H9
MB: FOXCONN 2AB1 1.00
Chipset: AMD 785G Rev. 00
Southbridge: AMD SB700 Rev. 00
LPCIO: ITE IT8721

When I bought the CPU I had no idea that bios existed and to add onto that I'm not as computer savvy as some people out there so any terms that might be thrown my way I might not know about it. In advance thank you for the help.

Greets! Sorry you're having trouble. HP and such manufacturers are notoriously terible bout upgrading anything on their systems. Looking at the system specs, looks like the BIOS you found is likely usable for the Mainboard you have. I would switch back to the CPU that came with the PC, presuming you still have it, upgrade the BIOS, load the BIOS defaults (ALWAYS do this after a BIOS upgrade), make sure the system boots normally, then shut down and install the new CPU and it should be okay.
Good luck!

Hello, I've seemed to run into a new problem when trying to install the bios version that supports the amd phenom series and that problem is Error: File ROM ID Incorrect, I don't know if the file is unreadable or if the system somehow doesn't recognize it or if it might be a wrong version. I'm using a boot-able USB flash drive (I used a program called rufus to make it a boot-able drive)

WARNING! This MAY brick you computer! Try at own risk! While trolling some other Forums I found this as a possible solution, while attempting to upgrade the BIOS, add the parameter "/X". This is supposed to skip the BIOS check.
Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! But I think I might play it safe because this is the only computer I have and would the latest bios update fix my compatibility issue? Thanks for taking your time to reply to this thread.

Unfortunately the new bios update didn't work, and when I tried to go to a different version of bios, i received an "Error: Bios write protected" any solutions to override this or am I stuck with the bios version I now have?
