AMD Phenom II X6 1090t problem with the speed 1.4GHz

hey everybody i have a big problem here.My CPU give me wrong speed it's give me 1.4GHz but it should be 3.2GHz i don't know why or how and i didn't change anything in the BIOS the CPU is AMD Phenom II X6 1090t.
I hope someone can help me with this issue.

Seems the 770 is the better performer they basically go back and fourth on which one is better, right now i think u can get games with the 770 which is always a plus, the reason i got my 7970 over the 770 when i did as i got crysis 3, bioshock infinite, and far cry blood dragon which was a decider over the performance from the 770

Does this happen when you are just sitting at the desktop? or does this happen on all cores that are being used while doing something intensive?

If this is happening when you are idling, then this is nothing to worry about. It is you system trying to conserve power by lowering the speeds when they aren't needed.

Try and put load on your processor, like encoding a video and watch the mhz go up :)


I'm afraid that there is problem with the CPU because I the core speed don't go up and i tried to change the speed manually in the bios it works but in the bios give red color on CPU frequency ratio and the performance very bad after i changed it.How I can know if the CPU broken or it's just control problem.

clear your cmos, make sure your memory is set up properly, don't touch any cpu settings. boot into windows, load up a hardware monitor (use a few different ones to be sure), run a multi-threading benchmark and check the speeds on all your cores. Because you've fiddled with the bios, there is no way of knowing if your fiddling had something to do with it. Clearing the cmos brings you back to square one which is a great place to start from.

I tested the cpu by multi-threading benchmark and checked the speed it still 1.4GHz. the speed when i'm running multi-threading benchmark 45% of the CPU the benchmark FPS 24, CPU flag 1400MHz MMX+ 3DNOW!+ SSE SSE2 SSE3 SSE4A HTT.
So any idea what's happening to my computer. By the way i have an other problem in built in sound card only the speaker working and the microphone and line in not working as it should it makes noise too mush and i can't hear anything only the noise but it's come up and down when I talk via microphone

CPU usage between 19-29%
Now here the problem I checked the clock speed on CPUZ program.I checked it when i'm playing it don't go above 1400MHz and when i'm not playing a game it will be 1320-1390MHz.

And that would be your CPU throttling itself to keep power usage down when it isn't being worked hard. If your cpu is only being used at 19-30% when its clocked less than half of its max, what is the problem?

You CPU is designed to do just this. To lower the clock speed when it isn't needed. You don't need 3.2 ghz if you're only using 19-30% at 1.4

download a cpu benchmarking program and check your clock speeds then. until you have 100% usage at 1.4 ghz using a program that is designed to use more than that, then we won't know there is a problem

from your post your cpu is doing exactly what it is designed to do.

I used CPU benchmark that what i was trying to say when i use benchmark the speed still same don't go up 1400MHz.
and when I try to change the clock speed manually it gives me red color on the clock speed. but it give me 3.2GHz the problem is my pc performance too bad now I couldn't play batman arkham orgins in low settings :/

that board does not support the 1090t as its a 125watt cpu the max the cpu support list shows is the 1065t and max of 95watts not a single 125watt cpu. So to handle the higher wattage cpu the board underclocks and well thats about it lol. Gotta change ur board to one that supports 125watt cpu or higher. or replace the cpu with something thats 95watts

Ok thanks i will try change the board and if it works.But i have this PC for a year and everything fine i have three month with this problem and the power supply damged one time and i fix it. can you give me some board support my CPU and it's able to upgread like borda socket AM3+ and chip and some power supply 850w.

the gigabyte has the best vrm design out of the two and probably the best 970 board(better vrm design gives better overclocks and handles voltage regulation better), or else go with like a $145 asus,gigabyte, asrock, msi 990fx board. But if u r or are not going to OC, the gigabyte 970 board is the best and cheapest option or if u are not going to OC the asus m5a97 r2 has good quality and can overclock as well.

Not every 990fx board is good quality, like the cheaper asrock and biostar boards i would not buy lol as the best biostar 990fx board is prob worse than that 970 asus/gigabyte board besides having more sata and pcie lanes the board just doesnt seem good so if u go 990fx look in the $130+ range good area to get good quality

Thank you man I can't upgread the board at the moment I will try to upgread it as soon as possible.I was going to upgread the Graphic card but after this problem i have to buy a new board and I need a new card because my card is too old so I need +400$ to do it and i need ram as well.

the two 970 boards will do sli or crossfire but only with two cards, if u want more gotta go 990fx. Not sure if those 970 boards run sli/crossfire at x8 or what cant seem to find anything, so might as well just go with a 990fx board like the gigabyte 990fx ud3 or asus m5a99fx pro R2 as there the cheaper 990fx boards then sli/crossfire seem to run at x16

Hey Bro no I can't get 990FX board it is too expensive for me.
But what motherboard better Asus 970 or gigabyte you was talking about.
The asus one cheaper but I want the better one for future I can pay between 50-70 UK pounds .

What do you think about MSI 970A-G43

If price is an issue get the ASUS board, the msi board isnt the best the only msi boards id buy would be the higher end ones from amd or the z77/z87 from intel their low end boards are not that great, the asus and gigabyte should run crossfire/sli at least at x8 which the performance isnt difference is mimimal.
So pick one of the asus or gigabyte i mentioned there some of the best 970 boards for quality and both good for overclocking, the msi 970 not so much, if ur not going to OC ever then a lower end 970 board will be fine but even if not overclocking the ability to OC gives u the knowledge that the board is quality and should last at stock
