Hey,
I need to buy a processor for less than 170CHF (in swiss, www.digitec.ch is on of the best site), it will be used for gaming, and I do not have motherboard, I will buy it after, so no problem with compatibility,
It can be a AMD or a Intel, it does't mather, but cheap and not so bad for gaming,

So if you can say me a processor name in this price, and one other which cost less than 360CHF

Really thank you

The E2160 is a great chip for the price.
Only CHF 101 and is a great chip.

The Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3 for CHF 143 is also a good buy.
The DS3R for 158 if you want RAID.

The cheapest would be an overclocked e21x0 to 3ghz-ish + entry-level P35 mobo. AMD can't touch Intel in terms of overclocking. Mind you, I'm an AMD fanboy.

If you must go AMD, get a 6400+ AM2 & AM2 board like nforce 550, 560, 570 or 590.

For less than 170 ... definitely the Intel E4500 @ 152CHF. It is stock at 2.2Ghz and contains an MO revision core (higher overclocking, more energy efficient). Definitely a good buy.

I'm not sure I understand your second question. Please try to clarify and I'll try to help anyway I can.

I would disagree on your choice of the 6400+. You can get the 5000+ BE for much cheaper and easily hit 3.2 on air.

Maybe so but the F revision of the K8 are, clock for clock, faster than those new G1, G2 steppings. The BE is quite overrated.

Overrated by whom? The BE 6400+ may be as the unlocked multiplier does very little for a chip that's near its max already. However, the 5000+ has shown that it can easily run at a stable 3.2Ghz with AMD's reference cooler. 3.3Ghz is achievable by most with a slight voltage increase and most of them are topping out at a very respectable 3.4Ghz. And it does all of this on inexpensive air cooling. The F revision may have a slight clock for clock advantage but, of greater importance to most of us, is price/performance. Nobody in their right mind is going to buy a BE chip without the intent to push it to the limit and this is AMD's best overclocker. Taking overclock potential into account, which you have to, this is AMD's best bang for the buck.

wow people you sure did help, but i cant make up my mind
you all have different suggestions. which is the best???

you asked for a clarification (lol that was my friend writing
and he speaks just a little english):
he said he would like that you give his a processor and its
price (less than 170) and the same info for one less than 360

thx for the help
