Hello guys, I keep getting a System Thread Exception Not Handled BSOD on my W8.1 pc.

This is my first build, so I got excited and installed the GPU drivers twice, one from the CD and later one from the website thinking it would overwrite the CD installation, without restarting.

BIG mistake.

Now everytime I boot I get that BSOD.

So I looked up troubleshooting and booted into safe mode using CMD from the windows installation CD, and deleted my gpu drivers and set it back to normal boot as the troubleshooting guide stated.

All was well now, but now everytime I try to install the drivers again I get a bsod right away. Atikmdag.sys

Please help me.

My rig-
AMD FX 8320
AMD PowerColor AR9 280X
Antec vp550 550w
Corsair Vengeance 1x8GB
Gigabyte A970 DS3P mobo
Windows 8.1

Thank you.

I'm beginning to think you have a bad video card. Can you test your card in another machine?

Or, if you have an old video card laying around, replace the card you are using now with that old card long enough to see if you can install drivers for the old card.
During the re-install, tell it to reformat the hard drive, which erases the hard drive. Following that, everything will go back onto the hard drive just like the first time.

And since you have learned what not to do on video drivers, you should not have that problem again... :)

Ok I have tried installing the drivers from the CD given. No BSOD, but I get this error on startup

Also if I rightclick I can see and open the AMD Catalyst Control Center.

So I don't think it was my fault installing those 2 drivers in the first place.. but idk

I can't check test the card on any other pc not do I have another card to replace with.

Please do let me know if you have any idea regarding this.. This is my first ever pc and I'm losing hope =/

Nope I don't have anyone with a pc good enough to run my card..

I just opened up the case, I saw it was using an adapter that came from the box with 1 pin missing.

So I removed that out. Put two 6pin and one 2pin connector. Still bsod.
Sigh...

Just posting here to let you guys know MarkW was right. The gpu was faulty and on replacement it works great.

If you're in the same boat as me, don't waste your time and just get it replaced.
