So Im in a predicament. Crazy good deals on r9 290's for roughly 200$ on ebay, newegg and such are just appearing all over the place. But the r9 300 series is coming out sometime in Q2 to Q3, although I have no idea as to the release prices. So my question is. Anyone know the release prices for the r9 300 series? I've been searching the web all over and only find mentions of the release date.

Those who know are under NDA agreements.
But, you can guess that a stronger card will not be given away. A new strong card usually goes for what the traffic will bear. My guess is that such a card will compete with the GTX980 and sell near $500-$550.

The $200 R9-290 cards on ebay may have been abused during the bitmining craze.
I might be careful about them.

Other IMPORTANT points:

1. Newer cards are likely a lot QUIETER.
- possibly have a 0dB option (fans turn off)
- dumping less HEAT into the room is also important to many people (my room gets hot in summer)

2. Newer cards likely have new FEATURES (NVidia's 900 series has:
a) MFAA (anti-aliasing method that can increase frame rate)
b) H.265 encode/decode
c) voxel lighting support
d) HUD support (i.e. Occulus Rift)
e) HDMI 4K@60FPS

3. improved TESSELLATION or other features will probably help LONGER TERM when games optimize them. Thus, relative performance compared to current cards is likely to increase.

Personally I'd wait.

we can speculate all day about this. but i would say no less than 550 for 390X
