Alright, so a while back I made the boneheaded mistake of spilling iced tea onto my Alienware M17x R3 laptop, and it fried the motherboard and GPU. I took it in and had both replaced by a repair shop, installed the drivers, and everything was working right except that the switchable graphics wouldn't work for some reason. The card ran fine though until I tried to plug it into a HDTV a couple times in a couple days, and while it worked the first few times, when I tried to plug it in once, the screen didn't turn on and it was beeping 5 times, which I found out was a CMOS battery failure. I followed Alienware's instructions and reset the battery, which made the screen turn back on and the computer run, but when I looked more closely, I saw that it was running on the integrated graphics and would not switch over to the AMD card. It didn't even detect it in Device Manager, and when I tried to reinstall the drivers, the autodetect tool from AMD didn't work, and the manual driver install tool appeared to work, but Catalyst Control Center never appeared and I still couldn't use the card. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here, and if this is something I can fix myself or if it's something I am going to have to bring it back into the shop for?

If the graphics did not work, I would not say that everything was working right. The shop that replaced the components should get it working for no extra cost. Giving you a gaming laptop without the video card working is not a finished job. It would be like going to get an engine replaced and having half the cyliders not working on the new engine.

That's true, but it was sort of working before, just no switchable graphics. Now it has no switchable graphics and the graphics card doesn't even show up. I called them and they said to bring it back in so they could look at it and replace it if needed, so I think that's what I'm going to do, but I just wanted to make sure this wasn't something I could fix myself. Thanks anyway though!
