This isn't much of a real-world drop. I've been tracking prices on the 6700 - 6800 cards since mid-January, and the cheapest 6800 (non-XT) at Newegg has been bouncing between $465 and $489. There was one for a few days at $449 around 27 March. $469 seems more to be an acceptance of where prices need to be right now to move them rather than a response to the 4070.

They can't launch it because it's way too close to the 6800XT and they will likely try to charge$700 for it. Even at $600 it's dead in the water.

7900XT gets you about 20% more than the 6800XT. As everyone says the 7900XT should have been the 7800XT. But then AMD couldn't charge you $900 for and 800 class card without revolts.

AMD, like NVIDIA painted themselves into a corner with gens pricing performance gains. Greed made them look stupid.

7800XT will sit just like the other cards. Gamers are fed up
It would have been different if AMD’s projected performance uplift was realized. But they should have pivoted when the uplift was less than expected.
