[citation][nom]oibaff[/nom]I instead want this:http://www.amd.com/us/products/des [...] rview.aspx[/citation]
The pic isn't really clear, but this looks like it doesn't need a PCIE power connector (and it isn't mentioned in the specs). I can't begin to guess why they'd make this OEM-only, unless performance is identical or worse compared to the HD5670.
The HD6790 looks like an answer in search of a question, but that's before we have any pricing information. I'll change my tune real fast if it clearly replaces the HD5770, which then has to go away; they're too close otherwise.

[citation][nom]castle songbird[/nom]Don't be coy tomshardware; we know that testing a new gpu takes a good 5 or so days to complete, and what with your perfect track record of having hardware reviews all written up and posted the day a card launches I'm going to go ahead and assume your testing the card as we speak.[/citation]

Mr. Angelini smiled smugly as he read this post, and then checked out the home page to ensure he hadn't published it by mistake.

I'm impressed with the new video cards that have been coming out recently, but I still don't really see the point in upgrading. I'm still getting good framerates in most games using my sli gtx 260s...

[citation][nom]amk09[/nom]You are on crack dude, the 5770 has been dirt cheap for the longest time now. It can be had for $100 on newegg, which is a great price for that card. Shell out another $100 for xfire 5770's and you have Dx11 performance on the level of a 5870. Not too shabby for $200.[/citation]

There's a world outside the US, dude.

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]If I were to upgrade every time a new generation of cards comes out I would be wasting money, I still have a HD4670 and couldn't justify getting a HD5000 series, but skipping a gen onto the HD6000 seemed to much of a price jump as they were all high end.[/citation]

Yep... I tend to skip 1-2 generations. My 4670 is still my main video card and I play my games in 1920x1200 (It plays Crysis... but on low-med details) UT3 plays fine with details on max. I'm looking at the 6850 ($150) as a possible replacement - which is cheaper than my OLD GF-7600GT I paid $190 back in 2006 or so.

But I wanna do a complete upgrade with AMD's quad core Fusion and a $200(max) 7000 series card. Something that is easily faster than the 6950 with less power / heat / noise.

Todays prices:
$150~170 = 6850
$170~200 = 6870
$220~250 = 6950
(AMD-6400~6770 series are the same or slightly faster versions of their 5x00 sisters and are OEM parts... so the 6790 is a bit of an ODD part - no?)

So, with the 6950 almost at $200 - and looks like we'll see the 7000 series around NOV~MARCH time frame, meaning the 6950 should be about $175 by then. A "7850" should easily be $175~200 with its smaller and cheaper costs.

Where exactly is "here"?
I just did a search on Newegg.com which showed a price range of $91 to $220 plus shipping and tax. Most of the cards ranged from $130 to $150.

I have an HD4870X2 and still kickin' I'm not planning on upgrade graphics yet unless that thing dies (hope no T_T ) but it's nice to see there are similar or more powerful options that consume less power

Thought you might like this article, given your many lengthy rants about the "Ti" in the GTX560 and GTX550:

http://www.guru3d.com/news/nvidia-readies-nonti-geforce-gtx-560-to-ward-off-hd-6790-threat-/

So no complaints about the naming scheme? Or does it just inherently make more sense regardless of naming convention because it has an AMD label on it? I'm sorry, it's just really funny contrasting your reaction to the HD6790 announcement with your reaction to the GTX550Ti and GTX560Ti. But I'm not worried, I have complete confidence that you'll pull through and provide a perfectly unbiased explanation for why this situation is totally different from Nvidia's.

It's interesting that you basically just swerved around the topic of naming scheme entirely and politely imply that you'll simply wait for AMD's next gen cards, while also providing a healthy dose highly opinionated speculation to round it all off.
