So I'm trying to decide which graphics card to buy for my new gaming PC. I'm only going to be gaming at 1080p as I have come from an old laptop in which I have only ever been able to reach 720p at best. So, I am considering the RX 480 and the GTX 1060. The RX 480 seems like a better deal as it performs well, is cheaper and many people are saying that AMD has better DX12 support and so better future proofing. However, I want to be recording a lot of the time during gameplay. I know that Nvidia has shadowplay and the Nvidia codec which I know doesn't have a large hit to performance, which is important as I don't want to have to reduce settings while recording just to keep similar FPS to when I'm not. But I don't know if AMD has anything similar which also only has a small performance impact. I have seen many people saying that AMD VCE with OBS gives similar performance, but then others say there is a huge hit to FPS. I don't want to take risks and I'd rather go for the GTX 1060 because I know that shadowplay and the Nvidia codec work and are pretty good, but if I know that there is a way of getting good performance while recording then I'd definitely go for the AMD card. So is there a definite way of recording with the RX 480 that docent give a large FPS drop? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
