So I've had my rx 5700 for about a year now and there have been some hiccups along the way but a while back when I was upgrading my drivers the amd driver screen gave me the error "Error 1603" and the same thing happened today. But the strange part is after pressing close and going back to the radeon settings software, it shows that the driver has been upgraded and this has confused me. I have some images below showing what happened and also I did not have to restart my pc when re-launching the radeon software. Is there a way to check if the actual installed version is the same one showed in radeon settings and also how to fix the error?

And this.
Reinstall the Visual C++ Redistributable Files

This problem can also be caused if the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables installed on the local machine are corrupted. To fix this you need to do the following.

  • Get the versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables currently listed in Programs & Features.
  • Uninstall all versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ currently installed
  • Download the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable from here...

First, make sure you're on the latest BIOS version for your motherboard. Then check to see if you've got any updates pending for your OS. We're on version 20H2 for Windows 10. Then download the latest drivers found off of AMD's support site. Once downloaded, use DDU to remove your GPU drivers. Reinstall the latest drivers for your GPU, manually and in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

So I've updated my bios and currently working on updating windows 10 but I'm not too sure how to install the gpu drivers manually from an elevated command prompt. How would I do this or are there any good video's I would be able to follow along with?

You right click on the drivers .exe package and you select "Run As Administrator".
So I ran ddu and uninstalled my drivers. Then I installed the amd drivers from an elevated position but I still got the same issue. I have attached an image below that I took on my phone when installing the drivers. However when checking the radeon settings it shows that the driver has been installed so I don't know if it is a bug or if there is something more to it.

I'm currently running Version 20H2 and the OS build is 19042.662, I've tried to use ddu to re-install graphics drivers and that didn't fix it and I only have windows default antivirus(Windows Defender).

OMG thank you so much, it actually installed with no issue!!!
The sfs scan came out empty handed but then I did a re-install of the Visual C++ Redistributable Files, then ddu the old drivers and re-installed the drivers and it worked!
