Okay so recently I've been thinking of upgrading my cpu since my Ryzen 3 1200 is bottle necking my gtx 1060 super bad. Originally, I was going to wait until black Friday and buy the 2700x while it was on sale. However, I saw that the 1700 is 110$ off right now on Amazon and I'm wondering if I should wait and buy the 2700x while it's on sale or just buy the 1700 now. I don't know if the 2700x is going to even have a sale for sure so I don't know if I should risk it or not. I want this cpu strictly for gaming since that's all I really use my computer for and was also wondering if I would have to buy a better power supply also.
specs:
Graphics Card: Zotac GTX 1060 mini 3GB
CPU: Ryzen 3 1200
Motherboard: MSI B350 gaming pro
PSU: EVGA 450 B1

I'm not sure where you are seeing a 1700 for 110, the cheapest I'm seeing them is 179 USD. Also you really don't need to go up to a 2700X, a 2600/2600X would be a significant improvement over your current CPU. If you do choose a 2000 series Ryzen be sure to update your BIOS while you still have your 1200.

And yes buy a better power supply. I would suggest a 550 watt Seasonic FOCUS Gold, they are usually on sale

I did overclock it to 3.7ghz and it was still bottle necking. I didn't even touch the voltage. I was getting 90% cpu usage and only 70 or 60 on some games.

No I meant it's 110 dollars off, my bad. And the reason I want the ryzen 7 1700 hundred over the 2600 is because they are both the same price right now

Don't rely on Black Friday for your discounts. Last year I was monitoring a ton of different parts for sales, saw nothing worth it for me. They don't usually put solid, PC enthusiast components on sale for that time, it's more for casual buyers. If you find a good sale, just go with it.
