AMD Ryzen shuts down during gaming Explained and trouble shooter.
If your new AMD Ryzen is shutting down during gaming and you do not have it over clocked. the most common issue is your Power Supply, you may have over taxed your power supplies wattage output?.
On an AMD Ryzen 1600x plus and a decent video card like an ASUS 1070 OC +SSD +HDD+DVD drive and 5 fans, you will need at a minimum 650 watts, WHY ? the pros say 500 watts is good enough ?, Well it isn't, Power supplies need (Headroom) if your system is drawing 450-500 watts you want to stay in the !! Golden 80% range !! of its total capacity so in this case you will need 650 watts. 750 watts for optimum performance .
If you plan on SLI or Crossfire with more than one card than you should shoot for an 850 watt and choose a good manufacture!, some off brands that label their power supplies at 600 watts cant actually handle 600 watts, and Remember the Golden 80% rule!!!...
Now if you have over clocked your CPU or you may have a CPU that is going bad a Stress test will let you know ?, CPU Z from CPUid is free and works great as a stress test, some games will tax your CPU with Stress ! spikes !, that will make most unstable overclocked and faulty CPU's lock up or if you have built in over voltage protection power down, use the CPU Z program to stress your system for at least a half hour, Now if you your CPU is not overclocked and you have a good powerful Power Supply that is not over taxed, then you may have another issue the BIOs kind, try downloading the latest BIOS from your motherboards manufacture and also download the latest Chipset drivers as well, these can make your CPU unstable if a new Windows update is interfering with old divers.
And last resort check your BIOS settings make sure everything is set to Auto in your BIOs CPU profile, CPU multiplier should be set to Auto, voltages set auto, and make sure once again that your BIOs and Drivers are Up To Date!!!.... If all else fails the simplest answer is the first One!!!... Power Supply!!!....
