I could care less about Stereoscopic 3D.

Instead, I wish they would concentrate on true Holographic technology such as Holographic Projectors which can be scaled down small enough to fit a laptop or to outfit a given area such as the top of a desk or a whole room.

If they can do 3D without shutter glasses and off color glasses and video I'm all for it! Being a wearer of real glasses I find the NVidia glasses to uncomfortable and since they're proprietary I have no alternative for 3D.

So far, the polarized method used for the 3D movies has been great. For naysayers about looking ridiculous, if it catches on, companies will be selling "cooler" looking glasses in no time.

I like shutter glasses i just need to turn up the gamma a bit but shutter glasses are the most conformable for my eyes also tend to give the best 3d picture, ofc i've only tried movies with that.

I'm not sure if this new "standard" will catch on anytime soon, even if it is decent. Like many are saying, if glasses are involved (or something similar), I don't think the masses will really be interested.

I have worn glasses most of my life and I'm blind as a bat without them. Plus I've got Astigmatism bad enough in my right eye that it makes correcting my eyesight difficult due to a halo effect caused by the Astigmatism.

I'd much rather they concentrate on True Holographic development as I've mentioned previously as having as Holographic Projector built into your laptop would be a thousand times better than any display could ever be.

Here here! And waving a controller in the air to control things on the screen is just a fad, too. It should be dying out any day now... Long live sitting on your butt staring at the little box (or big box for those with big screens) holding a plastic shell with lots of buttons and sticks! ;)

Seriously though, this could be interesting. Even if it doesn't take off commercially, it's a step in the direction of more immersive entertainment. I would rather see innovation that fails than just adding more buttons and analog sticks to a controller. (Clearly I am not a shareholder or capital investor, eh?)

If you have a computer that supports Windows Vista, then upgrade your OS to Windows 7. That's it. Don't touch the rest of your PC until it craps out. These advances are going to be a waste of money because we won't see any games or other apps that utilize this power for at least a year, and it'll be much longer than that before it becomes mainstream. Most, if not all games that are out now run just fine with DX9. It's funny how Halo 2 Vista required the user to Have Vista (or Windows 7) but only uses a DX9 engine, which is from Windows XP!

[citation][nom]Belardo[/nom]Hello 3D porn![/citation]

There is already HD 3D Porn available right now. But you have to buy their equipment online. Anyhow, they do have great high resolution pictures.

Amen! This stuff has to be done, it needs to get out to the public. Quit nay-saying newer technology just because you dont see a need for it and wish it was something else.
By the way, there was a research project that had holographic projections done on a...some kind of vapor-cloud, I cant remember exactly, but it could hold light / colors in 3-D; I will see if I can find the paper. Cool stuff, but extemely difficult to produce obviously.

[citation][nom]08nwsula[/nom]most of the games I play are still in dx9. I don't think 3d is going to become the "new standard" any time soon.[/citation]
I've had stereoscopic shutter glasses for years...It works with pretty much any 3D game regardless of DX level.

*Looks for edit button* Oh and they were based on modified Nvidia drivers.
Got it from www.edimensional.com and boy did Doom III look awesome and scary in 3D when it came out!
