AMD vs Intel - Video Editing System

HI all,

thanks for the replies, an i7 will be a push with the budget i have! but i dont want to go for an i5 then in 6 months think oh i should have got an i7.. thats why i considered an AMD, but there are a lot of negatives when researching the AMD processors...

■ i will be using adobe premier, and i have been told that it will utilise all 8 cores, but only if needed (it only uses the number of cores it needs to, will pass processing on to the graphics card).

i will be editing HD video from a Go Pro Hero 3 black edition that can film in 4K resolution!!

am interested to check out how this system worked for u

I went for an i7-4770k, 16GB Ram, 4gb graphics, 128GB SSD, with a 2tb hdd. Got it built by overclockers and it's AMAZING! Handles everything I throw at it, including long lengthy bits of footage from my GoPro @ 1080p.

If you need any more info about the spec. Etc let me know :)

thx :)

I have been thinking of going for a i7-4770k but was not sure if it would give a smooth editing experience for my GoPro HD editing. At the moment I am running an old AMD Phenom 9850 quad core 2.5 ghz and I have to either pre-render or just wait a long time and its just not a nice smooth experience if you know what I mean. Any feedback would be really welcome.

Thanks
