AMD vs. Intel

So I just got some money from my parents to add to my build budget.. I'll probably save some of it for a new monitor. Should I upgrade my CPU to an i5? Or add an SSD? Or get a better GPU? This is for gaming, by the way. I can add maybe $100 to the budget. Thoughts?

Yup, Did cheap out on the psu, but I was on a strict budget so kinda had to happen. And I also don't believe that their would be any performance increase by going for an h97, thats why I picked the h81.

I know you're tired of this thread, but I just want to know your view on the 280 vs 270x.. You said it is marginally more powerful, and it is cheaper, so should I go for that? I don't know if it has certain drawbacks

Edit: I did notice that the 270x has a higher core speed/memory speed, so I didn't know how much that affected it

Think of the r9 280 as being a "level up" from the r9 270x.
