Hello ,

I am planning to build new system and after much research i finally came upon these two options.

I'll be using this build mostly to play csgo , use softwares like Autocad and a bit streaming.

Im confused between these two setups with R9 390.

*Intel i5 4690K + cm hyper 212 evo*
And
*Amd fx 8350 + corsair 100i cooler*

According to you which one will give more fps in csgo(mention how much if you know) or better overall performance?
And will the cooler im buying them will do fine?

NOTE: I already have Fx8350 so i've to pay extra if i go with i5 though i can sell fx8350 for some bucks.

Help really appreciated.

Thanks!

You can see it is a pretty good upgrade for the most part. This should give you an idea of how the FX 8350 runs at stock and overclocked against the Core i5 4690K. In some games you will see upwards of a 20+ FPS difference. Is that worth it to you? That's up to you. Is it worth it to me? If I already had an FX 8350 then I'd probably sell it and upgrade but that's just me. I can't stand thinking that my graphics card that I paid so much for isn't reaching its full potential because of the CPU. That's just me though.

Now for CS:GO I...
The Intel i5 will give you a pretty good performance boost if you don't mind spending a bit more. The fx8350 is fine, especially if you overclock it, but it can't match the performance of the Intel chip.

Why do you want to build a new system?
In what way is your current pc deficient?

If your current deficiency is graphics, then upgrade your graphics card and see how you do with your current FX-8350.

If your limitation is cpu core speed, there is nothing you can do except overclock your current FX-8350.
you will need a better than average motherboard to do that.

If you will need to change out your motherboard, you might as well go with Intel and newer skylake tech.

I'm assuming you don't own the R9 390 but do own the FX-8350. In this case, if you can afford the 4690K + R9 390 + Intel motherboard then I'd argue if you want the best in games you should add in the watercooling setup (figure this is about the cost of the Intel motherboard), overclock your current machine, and take the money you would've spent on the 4690K + R9 390 and get a better GPU.

If you do own the R9 390 and the FX-8350, I don't see any point in upgrading unless you have some specific program that is too slow. Add in a watercooling thing if you want to OC it a bit.

The i5 4690K *is* a better chip, by a decent margin, but it's not so much better that I would dump the FX-8350 and replace your board + CPU. If I were to suggest how you could upgrade the CPU, I think X99 or the upcoming Skylake-E is the only sane jump since the 8350 is a 4M/8T part and the X99 chips are 6C/12T parts you're gaining a lot here since it has 50% more true cores (modules in AMD parlance; if you object to that then do note the 12T vs 8T is still 50% more), and the Intel chips have better IPC plus lower power requirements which helps you keep your system cooler or helps it overclock better. Jumping to a Z170 Skylake with a 6600K or 6700K is a better upgrade than the 4690K, though you'd need to replace your memory with DDR4 (as would be case with X99 or Skylake-E), however since these chips are only a bit better than the 4690K/4790K the main advantage here wouldn't be the CPU itself but the motherboard -- specifically the M.2 NVMe ports that most Z170 boards come with but which your FX-8350 certainly doesn't have access to.

Now for CS:GO I think you'll be fine with the FX 8350 but the Core i5 4690K would do a bit better. Will the difference matter though? No. Why? Because your FPS is already going to be well over 100 and anything over 60FPS already doesn't matter unless you have a 120Hz or 144Hz monitor. And even if you had a 144Hz monitor you would still be reaching 144FPS pretty consistently with an FX 8350. With the FX 8350 you're going to be gaming just fine in CS:GO. Don't upgrade for CS:GO. Upgrade for the more demanding titles if you're going to upgrade at all.
