How about not putting stickers on in the first place? Maybe a slide in advertisement or desktop icon pointing to AMD's site.

At least make them scratch and sniff =)

Are electronic component stickers on computers akin to racing component stickers on vehicles? Are they are worn to show what is going on inside, to reflect the kind of decisions that I made when putting the computer together?
Reflecting a little bit here... maybe the stickers are more like branding on clothing, possibly worn to show status, how much you spend, etc...

Maybe there is no difference... maybe its all about building up an identity for yourself that hinges upon the purchases you make.

The stickers are advertisements placed just in case the computer is put on display in a retail store. The Asus U43F-BBA5 from Best Buy comes without stickers; the first time I've seen that in a long time.

all the stickers need to go, they harbor disease and infection over time. my friend is missing 3 fingers due to a flesh eating bacteria he got from his laptop.

I was actually fine to get the big ATI premium sticker, and the turion II sticker that I got. It didn't bother me, so sure, keep it on.
Hell, I grabbed the huge ass sticker on my desktop's monitor and smacked it on the front of my tower.

Hmmmm, that's interesting, whenever I purchase a product I do not mind slapping their sticker on the side of my computer. it never complains,:),BTW,, lighter fluid will remove almost anything and leaves no residue

I don't really mind the stickers, unless if they are too large.
Still have 'designed for WinXP' 'Intel Centrino Duo', and 'dlna certified' stickers on it since the purchase 4 years ago!

I did remove some which I forgot which.

with softer glue, the stickers will peel off automatically over time, showing bends and knicks . Not as bad as the windows serial number companies often place on the bottom of a laptop (when putting the laptop on your knees, over time the s/n becomes unreadable, and the sticker peels off).

Oh dear, oh dear... Yes I hate the stickers, but IMHO AMD are actually just going for some free online publicity. Stickers which peel off easily have been around for years on many non IT products.

OK... Hold your hands up all you journalists who fell for this... now go and stand in the corner where AMD will take your names for the next free AMD knees up.

What the hell is AMD thinking? This is the worst idea ever! These new stickers won't stay stuck on for very long. Then you won't be able to show your friends that flashy new Core 5/7 gaming laptop. It will look like every other cheap laptop.

Chuckles - I don't think I will buy an AMD - if they are struggling with stickers they must be technologically challenged. As if on queue I went to a friends this evening - He had a new HP laptop... Decorated with the usual stickers... One was from HP and it was a statutory safety warning... something like "The Safety Master General suggests that it is unsafe to slam the lid shut whilst resting your fingers on the Touch pad." Funnily enough that sticker peeled off with ease.

Oh my god, how fcked up is the world that you can make news with stuff like this and even have the title say that you're "working on it".

Fantastic really, absolutely fantastic.

isn't it strange how tomshardware have NOT reported on any of the new AMD cpu technology that been released in the last week or 2, how much do Intel pay you toms?

Great for AMD, but the only time I really notice these stickers is when I'm doing IT work and the metallic Intel/Microsoft ones are half-stuck and bent up at odd angles. As cool as it is to make them sharp and strong, my wrists don't approve of getting poked.

Finally!!! we might actually see some decent laptop designs rather then the please fill this space with stickers design, have you seen how ugly these things are once you deprive them of their stickers, Dell (of all companies) realized this with their Adamo range (OK so there's the MAC stuff too i guess)

it's not like AMD have forsaken CPU development to find a better glue, in fact in lieu of Intel's marketing power, it's a well placed move, consolidate their current user base with a little nod that would make them smile
