[SOLVED] amdppm.sys and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL causing BSOD

Hello All,



I have been getting BSOD 5 times in the past 6 hours. Each time it shows 'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL' on the screen but the final time it says 'What failed: amdppm.sys'.



Any advice on how to fix this is much appreciated! Happy to share more information but I am not sure what else you need!

This file is a driver for AMD processors. You can probably download a current replacement for it from your computer manufacturer's web site.

Amdppm.sys is a Windows driver located in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder.
It is sometimes used as Malware in disguise as amdppm.sys, particularly when NOT located in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder. Run your malware checker to eliminate that possibility first.
Download the free version of Malwarebytes from here: https://www.winsec.com/malwarebytes/en.html if you don't have it.

As it is a driver, it could have been corrupted due to something you did if you can recall an event you did recently?
Maybe a program you installed recently? If so then try a system restore to a point prior to the event.

Some things to check.
Check your system32 files from within Windows by running SFC /SCANNOW from an elevated command prompt.
This will check for any corruption and attempt a repair. Report the result.

Also go to: Control Panel>Device manager and check to see if any of the categories show yellow triangles which indicate a bad driver. Should there be any then uninstall the offender or search for an update. Once removed reboot your system and see if the problem is fixed.

There are others here that can better interpret your Dump files so hopefully one will come on.
