So according to many videos/charts... the RTX 5070 (~$550) and RX 9070 (~$600) are about the same performance. I currently have an RX 6700 XT... which I believe would give me about a 30-40% FPS increase @ 1440P resolution.

Should I care about the AI generated FPS at all? I know FSR from AMD is pretty crappy... Is it just a preference at this point?

The 9070 has more VRAM and will hold up better at 1440p going forward if you don't mind paying a bit more for it. Also, lately AMD has very solid drivers while Nvidia's keep causing problems. As for FSR vs DLSS, the latest versions are almost identical in image quality when used for upscaling, but i would avoid the fake frames in both cases, better to lower a setting or 2 than fill the screen with artifacts and tearing.

FSR isn't necessarily crappy, it's just not always as good as DLSS. That said, FSR 4 is a nice step up from the previous generations. Between the two, I would go for the RX 9070, it's generally faster all around, and comes with more VRAM, for not much more.
