nmdante,

the stock may have been downgraded but, watch it bounce up here around Sept 10th. If they were really good at making the calls they would have down graded AMD to radioactive a long time ago. AMD probably won't go much below $10 a share if it goes below it at all. Once they release Barcy they will probably be fine. The stock is already starting to show some strength and people willing to buy it around a low of $11.27. With Barcy coming out people are probably going to be buying AMD rather than selling it.

Check and mate.

If the AMD Phailure is capable of reaching these speeds and will be released soon then why haven't they released it to reputable sources for testing?

ah now it looks a bit more like something I read 3+ years ago. I know Richards obviously didn't leave in '03, but I'm sure someone did!

AMD didn't buy ATI for nothing. How do we know they have not implemented a precursor to Fusion within barcelona + HD2XXX? Surely it does not take a genius to realize that there are a lot of things a graphics card company could tweak inside of a CPU uA! I doubt it though because nVidia's stock would be dropping like a rock, instead of being on the tear that it is.

The score is total BS. Its 20% off the real deal.

what lawsuit are you talking about?

Maybe. Stock markets are strange, and I can honestly say that it bewilders me at times with the way it rises and falls. Will AMD be fine? Maybe. Maybe their stock will skyrocket, maybe it will tank. No one really knows, cause if they did, they would be the richest S.O.B. in the known world.

If someone is brave enough to drop a ton of cash on AMD (or Intel, or any other tech stock) more power to them. I have my fair share of stock in a company, so I expect the best from them. I'm sure AMD stockholders feel the same way, especially with so much guaranteed senior notes ahead of them.

Thus my comment at the bottom of the post:

Its Ed, so you can take this with as big a truckload of salt as the 3dmark

As far as AMD having the inside track.....Charlie D in the bunny suit he had to wear because he lost a bet to Rahul Sood regarding the acuracy of Charlies info says it all....the inquirer has the inside track on dis-information

Not true. We have a concrete revision 2.0 of the Phenom Logo.

Because it seems all the new and great chipsets are crossfire based, and I want a dual GPU setup, just for the hell of it, and don't want to screw with hacked drivers for SLI. I like ATI because they are (were) Canadian, and I'm Canadian and so I like to support them. Differences of 10 or 20 fps don't concern me when they are sitting at 80, and I think most agree that ATI provides more bang for the buck, esp in crossfire.
Also, the new ATI cards coming out around then are 55nm, draw less power, will be cooler, PCIe2.0, DX10.1, etc. Whatever, I'm an ATI boy.

I like AMD just fine, sure, but they've been lying about their own numbers, lying about intel's benches, spreading bogus numbers to various sites

http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=567

and what not. It is simply disappointing. And finally, we still don't know when they will release 3GHz Phenom - still no date.

If my memory serves right, Charlie lost bet that Dell will start using AMD cpu's. As we know now, he was right about it, just wrong about when exactly it had to happen.

This is true. Just like with the whole 2900 launch... everyone's seen it, but they can't talk about it without getting their asses sued off. The only people who have actually worked with one of these CPUs is covered by a NDA. So, when you see people saying: "I (and only I) got twenty minutes unattended to run all the torture tests that I could throw at this thing AND overclock it AND then run all my torture tests again!" WAKE UP! They are all full of shiite!!!! How many "benches" of the 2900 did we see before the thing came out, only to see these supposed "exclusive testing" benches were so far removed from reality that no one even bothered to fire the authors outright, they just allowed them to keep writing FUD. Oh, and these authors that are writing this and articles like this are the same ones who brought you such stories as: "2900: the GTX killer!!!" When, at the time, the drivers were so screwed that no one could even get the thing to keep pace with a GTS.
Oh, and ever wonder why the part #'s have always been photoshopped out on the CPU if they do show a picture? It's because it's not the real thing... Stupid, stupid, stupid people writing stupid stupid stupid articles.

loving this stuff ... turpit the bunny suit was excellent ... very funny.

Posting stuff about the Inq just means more people reading their excellent collection of light hearted, witty entertaining stories.

They said themselves it includes rumour, fact and friction - it's up to the reader to decide what.

One of the reasons I like their stuff is the way in which it is written too.

I don't take much stock in their benchies tho I think coolaler doesn't have the real goods he is testing either.

Surely someone is game enough to post something more interesting in the way of benchies about the new chip ??

fudzila lol:

"Phenom 3GHz won’t hit 30K in 3Dmark06

Our sources close to AMD have confirmed that Phenom 3GHz cannot even come close to 30000 in 3Dmark06, even on dry ice and heavy overclock. The same sources confirmed that no matter how AMD would like this to be true that such expectation about Phenom 3GHz would be too much.

If Phenom that fast, this would mean that clock to clock AMD is twice as fast as Intel’s quad core at the same clock speed and that is simply impossible.

With highest overclocking you will get to 26.800, trust me that is quite a lot, and Kingpin overclocked a Core 2 Duo to 5251 GHz and used two Geforce 8800 Ultras to get there.

In our Viennese lab we’ve two Geforce 8800 Ultras overclocked to 655 MHz each and Core 2 Duo extreme X6800 at 2.93 GHz will score 13500 and that is the fastest score we’ve seen. Quad core at 3GHz and FSB 1333 is maybe a few hundred faster but that’s it. "
