AMDs equivalent socket types to Intel?

Hello, new to the forum.

Before I get flamed and/or trolled. I have searched several threads, but I can't find an exact answer to my question. I am new to hardware (got my A+ May last year w00t ^_^). I've been reading up on Intel socket types and this is what I know:

Intel 1155 (legacy)
Intel 1150 (almost legacy)
Intel 1151 (current, awesome)

I am wanting to know what the AMD equivalent socket types are for those three Intel sockets. Also, Intel uses a tick-tock model to developing microarchitecture and processors. Does AMD do the same or do they use a different approach? Thanks to all in advance! I look forward to many more conversations and posts in the forum!!!

FM2+ is amds current for apu, and AM3+ is their current yet out of date cpu socket, while FM1 and AM2+ are legacy or almsot legacy. Issue is AM2+ cpus work with AM3 sockets, AM3 cpu works in AM3+ sockets, and AM3+ cpus work in some AM3 sockets, and FM2 apus work in FM2+ sockets. Alot AMD stuff is usually somewhat backwards compatible but for sure FM1,FM2, AM2/AM2+ and AM3 are no longer manufactured sockets and cpus

Then there is also the AM1 socket which is low powered apus. and AM4 is coming sometime this year for the cpu and apu side i think

Thanks for quick response. That seems vastly more complicated than Intels approach. Your answer has me asking another question. If I am correct, AMDs APUs are essentially a CPU with the GPU on the same chip. Doesn't Intel do this with their processors as well? Is this some new thing? Excuse my ignorance.

For amd they only had integrated graphics on the motherboard not the cpu so the AM2-AM3+ were all on the motherboard or none at all, so the FM1 was the first gen of their "apu" which yes is just a cpu with integrated gpu, and for the longest time it was superior to what intel had integrated with their cpus and recently intel has been catching up. intel added igpu with lga 1155 i think.

AMD sockets are pretty confusing but isnt a big deal as you will only find the FM1-FM2+ sockets, and AM3 and AM3+ most commonly and some AM2/AM2+. I still have a AM2+ board with a AM3 Phenom II X4 and ddr2 but to consider lga 1155 legacy is weird but true as it is difficult to find any motherboards or cpus that are new at a decent price, and that goes to show how far behind amd is.
