AMD's Virtual Super Resolution... Use it or no?

Maybe a dumb question, but did you select the higher resolution in-game, after enabling VSR in Radeon settings?
VSR/DSR means you can run the game at higher resolution than your native one. there should be a performance difference especially in newer games (try witcher 3 1080pvs4k). you should also see less aliasing due to the higher resolution and crisper details. but the overall game aesthetics would obviously not change.

I've used it without any issues - in terms of it actually working for me. But image quality results varied from game to game.

In BF4, super sampling to 4K on a 1440p and 1080p monitor I really saw a big improvement in image quality. Also for Rocket League, as the AA is normally pretty rubbish in that game. But for Forza Horizon 3 it didn't seem to do anything other than cause the frame-rate to tank. I always get lower fps with VSR @ 4K vs. no VSR at 1440p or 1080p.

I don't know if the fps drops to what it would be if running in native 4K with a 4K monitor attached, I guess theoretically it should be. If you aren't getting any drops in fps I think you can safely assume that VSR isn't working though.

Another point, some games (Rocket League) wouldn't allow me to change the resolution to 4K unless I altered it within 'Windows Display Options' first. All the other games I tested didn't care about that. For example, I could leave the Windows Desktop at 1920 x 1080 and then simply alter the 'in-game' resolution to 4K and bingo.

You need to have an AMD card that supports VSR in the first instance of course.
