i have an unlocked 1800+running at 1662.5 (2000+) and i was just wondering if anyone could answer a few questions first off my temp only went up 1-2 degrees in doing this wich surprises the heck out of me but anyway my bios reads the new clock speed but windoze still sees it as an 1800+
and if they laser cut the pits between the l1 contacts to keep us from unlocking?? what are they keeping from us with all the other laser cuts???????????????? if anyone could give me some insight into any of this mess i would apreciate it and what kinda stable speeds can i shoot for before i fry this puppy anyone know before i actually start pushing the envelope? lol

if it ain't broke..... it will be🙂

maybe its not really over clocked, raise the fsb and see if it goes up in windows. i think the other bridges are for things like voltage.

how do you shoot the devil in the back? what happens if you miss? -verbal

yeah... u sure its unlocked???
the bridges must be JOINED, otherwise changing the multiplier in the bios wont do any good.

well it's unlocked the multiplier is changing and my frequency is going up its now just an 1800 at 1662

if it ain't broke..... it will be🙂

yeah i am sure it is unlocked i couldn't even post after changing my multiplier from default when it was locked

if it ain't broke..... it will be🙂

i am running an asus a7v333 mobo with 256 megs of 2700 ram at 166 and of course my 1800

if it ain't broke..... it will be🙂

hmm
well run wcpuid or sandra and it will report what your CPU REALLY is running at.

if it is overclocked ok, i would then assume that becauz your not running at an exact multiple of 66.6Mhz the XP number being reported is just that of your stock speeds (i.e. cant/wont calculate it for this new odd speed your using)

My mobo handles things a little differently, as it displays BOTH the XP1800+ val and the real mhz (1533), as well as the FSB and DDR speed seperately.
quite a nice mobo this epox.

hi: i haven't changed the frequency though just the multiplier so i went from 11.5x133 to 12.5x133 wich in fact took me from an 1800+to a 2000+ and my bios accepts this and calls it a 2000+ but my software just calls it an 1800+ at 1662 instead of an 1800+ at 1530 it's kinda weird i don't know if that is because of an internal signature in the chip or if this in fact abnormal if anyone hear has overclocked their xp and then been able to go into system info in windows xp and actually see the change? not just as an increase in frequency because i get that but actually changed fron an 1800 say to a 2000 could ya please let me know thank you all... this place is an incredible info source

if it ain't broke..... it will be🙂

*shrugs*

like i said earlier, if you want to see that it has changed run SANDRA or WCPUID.

im proly not gonna get to unlock my 1800+ for a while, so i dont know till then.

i ran sisoft and it told me i have an 1800 at 1667 frequency so i do;t know but get this i can jump to 12.5 multiplier to get this and i don't have to raise voltage(1.75) so is it really overclocked i will assume it is because of the fact i am able to change the multiplier and when i do my frequency does go up but it still is an 1800
just at a higher frequency

if it ain't broke..... it will be🙂

sounds reasonable... and your pretty lucky that it can do that at default core voltage. impressive.

allthough dont forget to do some stress testing to make sure its stable under load.

sounds fair enough, looks like its identifying the cpu correctly- it IS an 1800+, and it also detects the new speed. maybe the ID is coded into the chip- just like you cant make it say tbird instead of duron, for example
