I'm loving the idea of a tablet, but if and when I get one, it will probably need to be larger than 10". I also don't intend to purchase a first generation product. I love my Droid but I'm not completely convinced that it's the best OS for a tablet. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but I want to see what happens a bit before I take that plunge.

[citation][nom]seboj[/nom]All that AND it runs FroYo for $300? I'll be camping out for that one.[/citation]
I don't trust Archos, they tend to quickly abandon their previous models the second they bring out an updated one and will ignore bugs in their products completely. There are still bugs in the Archos 5 that they will not even admit exist even though you can reproduce them easily.

The reports coming in of these tablets say that they will *not* support the standard Android Marketplace which is the de facto app resource for Android... Which means that if you want all the crazy facebook and fart apps for these you will have to jump through hoops to download and get them loaded.

Boy I am sooooooooo excited about an android tablet....

Will there ever be anything more than vaporware annoucements?

Sucks for the windoze/andoze fanbase that the iPad wasn't the failure they were convinced it would be.

Stop the 1024x600!

I was interested till I got to that part. I don't think the 32 or 28 really count as tablets, do they? A little small... More like, as it says, PMPs with Android powering them.

I would actually consider a tablet at this price point and these features.
I have to agree on the 1024x600 though. At least go 780p.

Oops I meant 720p.

I got kinda confused at the prices of the archos 70 and archos 101.

Archos 70 8gb= $275
archos 70 250gb= $350

Archos 101 ?gb= 300

I kinda dont believe the Archos 101 would only cost 25 bucks more than the 8gb A70. Honestly when it comes to tablets, your probably nott going to install big games and software on it, so size and resolution shuld be more in effect when considering a price. The Archos101 would seem like a steal over the Archos 70. Or the info here is wrong, or archos has a terrible marketing team.

ARCHOS!?!?! NO EFFING WAY!

I bought an Archos less than 2 years ago and even after reading all the horrible reviews.

When it works, it is great but for the general public who does not want to deal with multiple "issues" Archos is the biggest piece of crap Company out there.

Software is terrible, service is terrible

They no longer support my DVR docking station and I've already had the player in for service. Customer service is TERRIBLE.

I will NEVER BUY AN ARCHOS ANYTHING again. Beware people, you've been warned!

I don't really have a lot of interest for tablets in general, but the fact that they are increasing storage capacities at lower price points makes it somewhat interesting.

I am very interested in the 101 ... only if they let us buy from the Android Market. If we are still locked into their custom market then i'm not really interested. I feel this is counter to the android platform and cuts of the owner from a big selling point to the environment. It takes away choice.

For some time, I've been looking for a device that will enable me to download PDFs from my main PC and read them in comfort on the sofa. Most low-cost readers/pods/pads seem to have small screens which would make heavy wether of PDFs. So the Archos 101 may be the answer, as long as it's not priced in Dollar-equivalent-£'s.

Wow? These comments are so confusing to me. I just have to assume you are all programmers or like mess around with the system. If you're just a user like me (web browsing, games, reading, etc.) there is no reason to consider anything other than the iPad. It is truly, as Steve Jobs said, "a magical device". I've had mine since launch and I couldn't be happier. Since I've had it I barely even touch my PC. There is very little it can't do. Like most I was frustrated that they didn't include flash, but after using it for months I can honestly say they I don't miss it in the least. The iPad may be more expensive than these units but there is no question the value is exponentially greater. In full disclosure I feel I need to include, yes, I am a fanboy. However, the only reason I am is because I have been so blown away by Apple mobile products. I went from a Blackberry Storm to a Droid to the iPhone 4. Let me tell you that the iPhone is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the rest. I can't say how the archos will compare to the iPad, but if my phone experience is any indicator it's a no brainer. I say to Steve Jobs, if keeping your products closed is what it takes, keep it up. Just don't stop making the best products on the market. I expect this post will fade away shortly but hopefully you all can respond rather than hitting the thumbs down.

Is it just me or what? Nobody talks about replacebale battery - did anybody enquire about it? Are we buying a gadget and throw it away after on eor two years when the battery could not keep its charge?
