Possibly quite a nasty issue here which I am going to assume is just a failing (failed?) drive, but could be something else. Can't seem to find much on google for it.
This concerns my d:/ drive, which sometimes had issues where it and any files or programs stored on it would 'hang', freeze for a ridiculously long time, only to snap back in suddenly. Checked the event viewer after and there's hundreds of the event in the title. I just brush it off, because all I had to do last time was jiggle it about a bit and it fixed itself.
Now, though, windows cant seem to find the drive at all, which is worrying. (It's an old one which I basically use as an archive I need to eventually go through, but there's still some important (to me) bits and bobs on there).
The paging file is on one of my other drives specifically because I knew the D drive had an issue, so I don't think it has anything to do with the paging file.
as far as I know (been a long time since I've checked, in truth, but it is an old-ish drive which makes me fear its failed) the drivers are up to snuff.
If anyones had any similar issues and/or can tell me whether I need to start thinking about properly backing up (or trying to recover) that drive NOW, thatd be great.
