AN52 - AN52V

I want to update my BIOS - I have an AN52V Abit mobo.

In checking Abi'ts site it looks like the BIOS for the AN52 and the AN52V are different (file names are different).

Can someone tell me what the differences are in the motherboards.

Also, can I use the BIOS for AN52 instead? I know it sounds like a dumb question but I really do have a good reason for asking

I don't understand... what is your good reason?

In any case, what are your current components? Your CPU, GPU, RAM, etc.? You have to keep them in mind if you're upgrading only your motherboard, for compatibility's sake.

Unless you are having compatibility issues with new hardware, you should not update your BIOS, there is no need to.

I would not recommend attempting to flash your AN52V with a AN52 BIOS.
If the flash is unsuccessful, or the AN52 BIOS is incompatible, you may well end up bricking you motherboard.

I totally agree - that's why I am asking the question about the differences of the boards. They all use the same chipset and have the same specs. I am confused about the 3 models - AN52, AN52S and AN52V.
