AS above,
the HLED(HDD)led only lights at bootup and not where there is any disk
activity.
It is connected right.
Also I get a cmos error every few days and the message says the bios will
reset to default.
This is new board and have only had it a few days.

No.
Never overclock.
Standard settings.
2.08GHz
1Gb ram.
Only put the board in a day or so ago after my Asus one went bang.

Do you know why your previous board went bang?

Have you checked your Power Supply voltages? They should not vary by
more than 10 per cent from nominal values, while under load. If they
are out then replace the Power Supply.

CMOS errors frequently indicate CMOS battery problems. Replace the
battery, check it is properly seated and that the contacts are clean.

flat cmos battery and problem elsewhere on first board.
Swapped for another AN7 and this time no HDD led problem but CMOS problem
again.
The replacement board also had a flat battery(new board!!!)
