Android Chrome Browswer Issue(always asks for password no matter what site)

I'm getting a strange issue with my nexus 7. I use the default chrome browser and every time I go to a web page I get the below pop up:



It doesn't matter what site I go to I get that error. Its only happening on my nexus 7, not on my phone which is also android(GSIII) and has the same synced settings. Any idea what this could be caused by?

Yep, I didn't change any settings.

hmm... Good question. Never typed it in.
Tried it, nothing happened just a page load error.

can you try uninstalling chrome and if you're rooted also clean it out from /data/app

My nexus 7 is stock. I'll try reinstalling chrome and see if it fixes it.
If not maybe I'll just do a restore. (nothing but games on here anyway) Just was curious if others have seen this happen with any of the recent chrome updates for the N7.

Yeah its strange. If windows was getting these kinds of errors I would assume something nefarious but my N7 is stock and I don't install software from anywhere but the play store. Plus that site is linking back to something google.

Maybe someone else who sees this later will recognize the error. Not sure. Gonna try messing with it some more and then I'll reformat it if I cant figure it out.

not all apps you install from the playstore are safe

True but all of my apps are from reputable sources. (not really much installed at all)
All of my apps currently:



Mostly just email stuff, facebook, and streaming video. I don't even have any games right now.

ehhh then that's a really weird problem i would try posting it on xda cause there aren't many phone people on toms

I just had this problem, and it appears to be related to a data compression setting. You can turn it off under settings->bandwidth management.
