Annoying BSOD ONLY while watching youtube videos (Windows 10)

Hello, I have been experiencing a series of Blue Screens of Death (BSOD) recently, and I honestly don't know what or where the problem lies. I'm not exactly new to laptops/notebooks, and I usually fix almost any problem I face by myself. This one however, I don't seem to be able to fix.

My device is an HP Notebook that I got recently (about a month ago). I started noticing very trivial instances where the sound would loop for a second or two (with the screen lagging as well) while watching youtube videos, but I didn't think much of it. Later the problem became bigger and I started getting BSODs randomly while watching youtube videos.

Again, the crashes ONLY happen while watching youtube videos. I never had a crash while playing PC games, which are way more taxing on the processor. [strike]Unless that has nothing to do with the problem then please ignore this.[/strike]

Some system stats:

i7-7500U 2.70GHz
12GB RAM
1TB HDD
GeForce 940MX

I've saved the last 3 dump files here.

Please help me get over this frustrating problem

Hi Heartache, I wouldn't use any of those auto-update-driver programs. They are known to cause more issues than they fix. They often get drivers wrong.

I downloaded the new dump files got these results: https://pastebin.com/TfENj7jX

There's more information in the replies on that page that may help.

The dump file says you have a "HP Pavilion Notebook", so here are the HP Drivers:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

And here are the Realtek Drivers:
http://www.realtek.com/downloads/

I hope this helps.

Hello gardenman, thank you for responding! :)

I've updated the drivers from the HP website (wasn't sure about the ones on the realtek site)
I'll give it a few days and I'll post here to tell you if the problem is fixed [strike]or not[/strike].

Unfortunately the problem is still there. I've been getting BSODs consistently, and even outside youtube now (last BSOD happened while I was playing Shovel Knight).

I've checked the crash dumps and the BSODs are caused by multiple drivers, but mainly ntoskrnl.exe and rtwlane.sys. I've downloaded DriverDoc and updated every system driver, but I still get BSODs every day.

I'm honestly confused and just frustrated, because I don't know what the cause of all of this. I've never had to deal with a single BSOD while using windows 7, let alone multiple BSODs a day.
If the problem is with windows 10 then I'm afraid I'll have to go back to windows 7...

Anyway, I've uploaded the last 5 dump files here.

ntoskrnl.exe is actually a part of Windows and usually is not the actual cause of a crash, it just gets blamed.

The rtwlane.sys driver is still causing crashes. Windows is asking it to do something and giving it a half second to reply. It's not replying in time. In addition, it appears to be the same date as it was before. I figured an update the to driver would be created on a newer date.

A few of your errors point to memory corruption. Try doing a [memtest86] (test for at least 2 hours) and post the results here. Any errors at all is no good.

I'm no expert at reading dump files. I can only tell you what the dump file tells me. There are others on here that are experts. Maybe they will see your message and reply and be able to help you better.

I have the exact same problem, it only happens when i watch youtube videos and it started 2 days ago.
A black frame is looping for a second or two then i get the BSOD.
I wonder if youtube is aware of this issue. I updated my NVIDIA drivers just in case but it doesn't change anything.

I've had the same problem and the only thing that has worked so far is switching browser. Its been around two weeks. And I haven't had any problems. I was using chrome and I switched to Microsoft edge. I previously tried switching graphics cards drivers, disabling extensions on chrome, reinstalling chrome, removing flash, everything is up to date, doing memtest, virus and adware checking. Nothing worked except switching browser. So far YouTube crashes have gone away.

Hi casseur, youtube probably isn't the problem. It's more than likely it's either the software you are using (probably drivers) or the hardware you are using. [Start a new thread], fully explain the problem and upload any minidump files from C:\Windows\minidump and you'll get better answers (it may take a few days).

Inkbone, I'm glad you got it working and thanks for posting a possible solution.
