Hey guys, I bought a new G-550 few weeks ago and there is an annoying little noise coming from the fan. It's not a fan noise but more like a 'ticking' noise.
The problem is I cant even RMA the PSU because most people wont understand what Im talking about because of how small the noise is.

I tried flipping the PSU so now the fan is sucking air from inside and the noise is gone - but is it healthy for the PSU?

Ideally no you really dont want your PSU to be sucking in hot case air into the unit. Could be a fan bearing maybe? Perhaps a lose wire touching the fan when its right side up? If you don't think it can be RMA'd, I have found that its easy to take the outer casing off of the unit to either put another fan in or see what is the issue a little more closely. Keep in mind this will void your warranty though.

As long as there isn't a ton of heat in the case you should be fine. Worst case scenario the PSU doesn't last as long as it could. A 5 year warranty usually indicates that the majority of PSUs for that line last past that mark so I don't think you should worry.
