Will a P4 2.4 533 work on a 400 board with PC 133 ? I don't care about the
buss speed, I just want to know if I can use this cpu before I sell it.

What motherboard? Did you check the manufacturer web site? Depends what
the BIOS and moerboard supports.

I tried a 533 in my system and it recognized it but dropped it to 400. But
this system uses 200/266 MHz DDR SDRAM DIMMs.

This is the board:

Right now I'm using a 2.0 400

The P4 CPUs are all clock-locked. This means that the clock multiplier is fixed
and cannot be changed. By installing a CPU designed for 533MHz on a motherboard
with a 400MHz FSB, you are underclocking the CPU by about 20%, running it at 80%
of its rated speed, somewhere around 1.9GHz. And maybe the mobo BIOS will
reject the CPU... Ben Myers

Bummer! I got the cpu on ebay. It was advertised as a 2.4 400. Time to setup
my first sale!

How much you want for it? I might be interested.

In June '04, I paid $84 + $9 shipping. Make me an offer I can't
refuse...remove the X in my email address.

A 2.4/533 will run at 100/133 or 75% of rated speed - 1.8 GHz - on a 400
MHz bus board.
