Another Question re: Interface

How do I do the commands to display the level map? It says it is \Ml,
but I press \ and it won't let me do anything else. I push ctrl + M
and it doesn't let me enter more.

"\M" stands for "Meta" which stands for "Alt". Try Alt + L.
