Special thanx to frozencpu, xioxide and newegg :bounce: :ouch: :bounce:

Looks very well done and the molding is a good touch. Nice job =D

Sorry this is a bit off topic, but i noticed the fan controller on his 300, how well does that seem to work for him? I've been debating putting one in my CM690 (recently purchased)

Thx!!!

Yea, to me its worth it 100%, the only issue here is that if you do decide to go with a fan controller make sure its a Scythe or Zalman...IMO the Scythe KM02-BK 5.25" is the best controller out. I normally use them to crank up the fan speed while gaming and lower fan speed when I am watching a movie or surfing the web. Keeps my temps low and the temp probes are fairly accurate (-1c most of the time). As far as your CM690 it will give it a nice touch and you wont have all your fans at 100% 24-7......

Very impressive mod to the Antec 300. What are the rest of the specs of your nephews' system?

Lucky nephew... I just gave mine an old 7600GT so he can turn up COD4 at little on his Dell. I guess I'm a bad Uncle... 😀

Thanks....

At the moment he is running a Kuma 7750 overclocked to 3.1Ghz
Asrock 780a Sli
AC Freezer 64
BFG GTS 250 (1GB)
4GB OCZ 1066
WD Cav. Black 640Gb
Thermaltake TP 650w
Scythe Kaze Master
4 120mm Rosewill fans
Techflex Blue and Red sleeving
Couple of 4 and 12 inch cold cathodes....

Almost identical to my AMD system......

Took him about 40 car washes and a lot of saving up.........

Well i guess he wanted a flashier case and accents, and I told him that I would build him a gaming rig with most of my specs as long as he paid for all the hardware and took good care of it.. Now he is washing more cars than ever and wants another 250 and a 955...So I told him to work with what he has and later on when its time to upgrade we will order the rest of the parts....

What more can a 14 year old want? He only plays CoD4 and BF2 for now....

I understand totally.

I'm getting ready to build my daughter a PC from spare parts from an old build. I think a 5 year old would be happy with 2x 9800GTX's, Thermaltake V1, MSI P7N Platinum 750i, Thermaltake M9 and I'm deciding on either a E8500 or Q9550 as the CPU. I'm going to set her up with the WD 640GB Black drive as well. I'll need to do some fancy cable mangement with the M9. I'll post pics once I get it going. I wish I had the talents to mod cases but I'm just good at building.

Thanks! :)

I figure there is nothing she can do playing on the PC that can't be fixed by me or by a "clean install". 😀 She just knows not to play around with the tower except to turn it on with our permission to do so.

Yea, that's sweet......

On a side note how are your dual 260's holding up? Do you game or just have both cards for fun???

BTW you have a nice setup, I have an EVGA x58 LE paired with a GTX 275 and im in love with it...to be honest its to fast for my needs.....

My two 260's are holding up very well. I haven't had issues with any game I have thrown at them. I game at 1920x1200 and run games on max settings. It KILLS Tiger Woods08 & COD4, which are what I play the most. I'm very happy!!

How is the EVGA X58 LE board? I like to recommend it in builds since to me it seems to be a great board and pretty much a "stock" version of the Classified.

Nice, I love Tiger Woods08...pushing the mouse forward and making that HOLE IN ONE!!!....

As far as the LE I love it, its not the best for SLi but it is very stable and top notch if you pair it up with an EVGA GPU.....I like it due to the fact that it matches my Antec 902 black on black on the inside.... The mobo is really nice if you are going with a single GPU setup.. I am hoping that once the 300 series cards come out I will be able to purchase one and test it...... To this date i have had 0 issues with the LE... overclocks like a charm and temps never reach 59c all around.... Ambient in my room never exceeds 30c.....25c is the average.....

Jeez, a bit overkill, don't you think? I'd bet that thing is taxed about 25% max by the games she plays and sucks down probably 250W at idle. I know I'd take out one of the cards until it's warranted by usage. Lucky girl, I have a 5 year old computer and I'm a 26 year old professional.

If the kid has GAME, it will not be overkill trust me.......

When i was 5, I got an ATARI 2600 for my B-DAY....2 months later I was a wiz at it and wanted the comodore 64...then it was the nintendo entertainment system, then then 3D0....years later I had the Genesis, super NES and so forth.....so overkill is not in my vocabulary.... I guess the better they got the more i wanted.....

Sure it is overkill... but I have the parts outside of a CPU, so I figure what the hell... Does me no good to keep the parts lying around or just putting one card and leaving another one out... I say... If you have them... use them...

If the kid has GAME, it will not be overkill trust me.......
I don't know if she's got game... but she enjoyes it, which is the most important part to me!! Plus, if I keep her interested, as she gets older, I can get her into building her own PC's and not being scared to work on a PC.

I could not agree more, but I betcha this: remove one of those GPU's and she will be yelling out : DADDY!!!! what happend to the beautifull lines that I used to see?? Its not as nice as before!!! did you do something to my puter??? lol

oh yeah, if you give her that machine to play with then take out a card, she will know!

Sound like OvrClkr's nephew AND Tecmo's daughter are lucky lucky.

I would really like to upgrade my CPU, but i am stuck with having to get a new MoBo too since it's only AM2 and not AM2+ one step at a time though.

Do you have a budget in mind? near future?
